I made it to English by the skin of my teeth and quickly made my way to my seat. Alex wasn't there. I kept glancing at the door every ten minutes to see if it was him coming through the door. He didn't come. I was a little upset that he wasn't there. I was glad that Laurie was there, so it ruled out that she tied him up and raped him. Or she did last night then killed him. I shot her the stank eye that she gladly returned and sat through the rest of class with pure sadness on my face.
After the bell rang, I practically flew to math hoping he would've just slept in and he was going to show up to math. No luck there either. I got really worried. I even tried texting under the table. He didn't respond. I was so nervous that I couldn't focus on my school work without him there. What was happening to me?
The same thing happened in Spanish as I struggled to pay attention. Yo no muy bueno cuando él ésta ido. At least I think that's right. I wasn't paying attention. I am just glad that I had no tests today or else I would be failing every class. I glumly put my school work in my locker for the classes I didn't have homework in and I stomped my way to lunch. Maybe Chyna or Cam knew what was going on.
I sat down with a loud slam and huffed as I put my hand under my chin. I wasn't even in the mood for food. Chyna could sense something was wrong and bought me a blue raspberry slush. Cam was a little late but sat down and rubbed Chyna's back. She kissed his cheek. So they were definitely a thing now. Cam raised his eyebrows at the sight of me alone. "Where's lover boy?"
I flipped him off. "Actually I thought you would know."
"No, I haven't seen him at all."
"Has he texted you?"
"No, I texted him and he never responded."
"Same with me."
"Huh. I wonder- oh shit!" Cam jumped up and ran outside. I ran after him and Chyna trailed close behind. He jumped into his jeep and ushered for me to get in. Chyna sat in the back while I was in the front. I started biting my thumb nail as Chyna asked what was on my mind. "What the hell are you doing Cam?"
"Alex has a history of fainting. It's kinda like a seizure or a little stroke. His parents leave before he does in the morning and they don't get home until really late. Sometimes he hits his head as he falls and passes out." I started hyperventilating and silently urging Cameron to drive faster. Alex may be bleeding across the floor or dead.
We got there ten minutes to late in my opinion. I ran inside and pounded on the door. I tried the knob and it was locked. Cameron ran up and unlocked it with a key he found under the gutter. Once he opened it I ran inside. I immediately went upstairs as Chyna searched downstairs. As if on instinct I went into his room at the end of the hallway. He was sprawled out in the middle of the floor. Luckily there was no blood, but he was shirtless.
I screamed 'found him' and knelt beside him. I rolled him over with all of my strength and residual adrenaline and put my ear to his chest. Thank god he was breathing. I bit my lower lip as I stared at his ripped chest and wondered what to do. I was so zoned out that I didn't hear the other two thundering up the stairs. "God Cyd, you didn't need to strip him."
I snapped my head in the direction of Cam who had the look of relief on his face. I peered back down at last night's date. "Shouldn't he have woken up by now?"
"Sometimes he gets knocked out all day."
"So what do we do now?"
"Uh, I'll help you get him onto his bed and we'll go from there." He lifted him from under the arms and I got his legs. We heaved him onto his bed. I crossed my arms and looked at him again. "Okay, now what."
