Today was the day. The day that I would choose who my boyfriend would be. To a lot of girls, it would seem like a small thing, just pick the one you like, ya know? But, I liked them both. Jake was really growing on me, and Alex had already grown on me like moss on a tree. I had it set up so I would pick at around six tonight. I was serious when I said that it was going to be a rose ceremony like The Bachelorette. I had a skater skirt and burgundy shirt picked out, I even had a fake rose from freshman homecoming. Cam thought it would be a good idea to get Chyna and I flowers since we didn't have dates. God, they wouldn't even be here for the most dramatic season yet.
I woke up on the couch, and our network service provider's logo bouncing from the corners of the screen. Alex had one arm slung around my shoulder and was snoring with his head back. I yawned and smacked my lips together a few times before I stood up and stretched.
I heard a knock on the door and jogged to answer it, peering through the peephole before opening the door. The distorted image of Jake was on the other side of the door.
I unlocked the bolts and opened it. He suddenly looked up from his phone and a grin split his face once he saw me. One hand only held his phone, and the other had a bouquet of roses. I smiled and took them from his hand. Ushering him in with my free hand, I retreated to the kitchen and found a vase to put them in. I spun around to thank him, but instead of speaking, I was greeted with his lips on mine.
I melted into the kiss, my eyes fluttering closed, and my arms moving to drape around his neck. One of his arms clamped my back and pulled me into him, there was absolutely no room between us, a middle school chaperone would be pissed.
The kiss lasted two minutes, then he released me, slightly gasping for breath. The only thing that parted was our lips, we were still extremely close to each other. "And a hello to you too."
"Ha, yeah. I just thought you could use a little cheering up."
"Thanks, the roses are lovely."
"They're just a small thing compared to what you deserve."
"Jesus Christ, both of you are making my decision difficult."
"What?"
"Neither of you are assholes, which makes it really hard for me to make a decision."
"Oh, well, you know, I think I got a few things up my sleeve that would help you make up your mind."
"Oh, ho ho. And what would those be?"
"You'll find out." He leaned back in those few inches and gently pecked me. Releasing me, he headed to the den. I wanted stop him, warn him that Alex was in there at least, but by the time I caught up to him, he had replaced myself with his body on the couch. His position mimicked the one I had established earlier. Oh God, if Alex woke up, he would kill Jake. Jake even went so far as to gently lean his head against Alex's chest.
It took everything in my power to not bust out laughing. Alex stirred and pulled Jake into his chest. I moved out of his line of sight in case he woke up, but Jake could still see me. Without opening his eyes, Alexander leaned his head and kissed Jake on the head, "Good morning beautiful."
"Wow bud, that's the best thing you've ever called me." Alex's eyes flashed open and at the realization of who was sitting by him, he shoved Jake to the side. Well, tried to anyways, Jake didn't budge. He was simply too strong. I moved over and sat between them, half perched, one-half on each leg. I was laughing so hard the side of my stomach was hurting and my eyes were blurry with the tears of laughter.
Alex looked like he was about to blow his top before I planted a kiss on his cheek. I turned to give Jake a congratulatory kiss too, but at the last second he moved his head and I hit his lips. Not to be outdone, Alex pulled me onto his lap and started trailing kisses down my neck. I kicked my legs up and rested my feet on Jake's leg. He tried to glower at Alex without my knowledge. It almost looked like he was telling him, "Back off, she'll be mine soon." Which was not a guarantee.
