He ignored me in English, and I had to walk him to math because he kept his nose in his notebook.  He ran into four people that just stared at him like he was insane.  Luckily, he did his work in math so the teacher wouldn't kill him, but alas, whenever he finished a question, he spent five writing in the notebook.  What was he writing in that?  I figured I would just leave him alone until there was no other choice because it would do no good in bothering him.

After math, I led him to Spanish by the arm.  He still kept writing, erasing, and proofreading something.  I really wanted to know what it was.

We were sitting in our seats, doing the beginning of class activity, well I was.  He was still writing.  We were supposed to be writing something to say to the person next to us, I was just writing a sentence that was complete crap, and he wasn't even doing it.  "Okay, class, time to share your sentences with your partner."

I turned to Alex, he was completely oblivious.  I grabbed his arm to stop him from writing.  He pulled it out of my grasp and kept writing.  I saw the teacher coming and knew he was going to get in serious trouble.  "Alex!"  I seethed.

"What?  Are we in Spanish already?"

"Yes, you need to read me a sentence, quickly."

"Um, okay, one sec, let me finish the sentence."

"No!  Just give me a sentence."

"The cat was hungry."

"In Spanish idiot."

"Don't call me names, I'm busy."

"Aleeeex."

"Fine.  Tengo muerto en mi corazon para tu.  Happy?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"Porque tiene muerto en su corazon para mi?"

"Yeah."

"Alex, you said, 'I have death in my heart for you.'"

"Shit.  I meant love, can I go back to this now?"

"What is it?"

"Something that I am really behind on.  And if I don't work on it, it won't come out right."

"Alright."  He ferociously scribbled on his paper again before ripping a clean one out of his notebook.  I shook my head and started reviewing my vocab before the test tomorrow.  I hope Alex realized that since he wasn't allowed to be anywhere around me except for school, he had no tutor and was going to fail.  He had missed so much school already that he didn't have time to be messing around right now.  But whatever, I couldn't stop him from failing.

He manages to ignore me throwing little papers at his head and arms.  At first, I wrote little notes on them hoping he would read them, but after ten, I just wadded up the paper and threw it at him.  We still hadn't presented our projects with the french class yet and since Laurie and I were done, Chyna and Alex were racing to get theirs done.  At least Chyna was.

The bell rang and Alex stayed behind.  I left with Chyna to go to lunch.  On the way to the pandemonium that is the cafeteria, Cam jogged up beside us and inserted himself between us.  He reeked of women's perfume.  "Cam, you need a shower."

"I know, turns out when you are doing a project of prostitution in history class, your partner finds it necessary to douse you in perfume from that time period."

"Mhm, we all know you are secretly a drag queen, don't hide it."

"That too."  Chyna giggled and kissed his cheek.  It was nice to know that after what happened we could automatically snap back to what we were, but it's also surreal.

We got to the cafeteria and picked our seats out of the narrowing choices.  Cam saved them while we darted to the lunch line, trying to find some morsels worth our time out of the limited choices.   Luckily, I manage to gather some french fries, grapes, and a smoothie.  Chyna gets a hamburger, more fries, and two bottles of water for her and her boyfriend.

Once we get back to our seats, I notice that my ball and chain had arrived and was speaking intently to Cameron.  I try to sneak up behind him, but Cam notices me and makes a motion to zip his lips.  I jump on Alex's back anyways and kiss him on the cheek.  He rubbed my arms and then wrapped his around me when I sat down next to him.  The notebook he had been working in all day was no where in sight.  "Where is the mysterious notebook?"

"Figured I'd take a break for lunch, since I barely get to see you right now, as far as my father knows."

I nod to show I understand,  Cam doesn't.

"You can't be around Cyd?"

"Nope."

"Is that 'cause she's pregnant?"  We all went silent and I looked down.  I heard Chyna slap him.

"She lost them bro."

"Oh shit, I didn't know."

"I thought I told you."

"Then I must have forgotten."

"Dick."

"Cydney's bitch."  I grinned and looked up again.  I didn't consider Alexander my bitch, but it was a funny phrase.  Alex on the other hand, looked pissed.

"Baby, it's a joke."

"I know, but that is still fucked up considering what he's done."

"Let it go, it was a mistake."

"Mhm, I told him not to make the same mistakes that I did."

"You would've had to make one."  I kissed his cheek again and ate a fry.  He didn't have any lunch, so I forced a fry into his mouth until he ate it.  I was gonna make us both fat, I swear.  Cam dove into his hamburger as Chai nibbled on fries and washed them down with water.

About halfway through lunch I noticed a familiar asshole striding towards us before he could see me, I dove under the table and hid between my best friend's legs.  Alex looked under the table to me shushing him.  He looked up and cursed.  "Alexander.  why aren't you in class?"

"It's lunch."

"Why aren't you studying for the classes you've missed."

"All of my teachers have classes right now."

"I passed by your English teacher and her room was empty."

"I'm not behind in her class."

"Don't defy me, Alex,"

"Or what?  Will you kick me out?  I won't be stranded."

"Who will you go to?"  Cameron stood up, I took the opportunity to take his spot and stand up next to him too.  "I told you to stay away from her."

"With all due respect sir, we have many mutual friends and I am not going to segregate myself for your pleasure."  A low growl penetrated the air when Alex wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and nuzzled his nose in my hair.  I grinned.

By now, his dad got a good look at Cameron, who towered over Alex's father by at least six inches, and was now cracking his knuckles.  He quickly left.  I could feel a wave of triumph wash over me, and the same feeling is reflected in the eyes of my friends.  We had won the war for now but at the same time, I felt like the Confederates before the Battle of Antietam.  This was only one battle of a long fight.
