I woke up and saw that his truck was still sitting outside. I wrapped a blanket around my shoulders and went out. The truck's battery died but the doors were unlocked. I opened it to Alex sleeping peacefully across the sheets. The second I touched his legs he jerked awake. I jumped out of the way of his flailing feet as he struggled to sit up. "What are you still doing here?"
"I, I couldn't go home."
"Why not?"
"You never said goodbye."
"I'm never going to say goodbye."
"I need you to." I started tearing up and looked away from him. "I can't Alex."
"Please, Cydney?"
"I can't say goodbye, because if I say goodbye, then you might leave, and I am to much of a selfish coward to lose you." I turned back to him and he nodded in agreement. He gave me a small smile and my heart fluttered. He leaped down from the truck and held his hands around my waist. He brought his lips to my ear and I could feel his hot breath tickle my cheek. "Last one to the house is a rotten egg."
I was going to turn around and run, but he scooped me up and ran with me in his arms. He put me down on the stoop and hunched over trying to catch his breath. "Bad idea?"
"B wheeze ad wheeze idea wheeze indeed." I tugged him inside and forced him to sit down. I got him a glass of water and he happily gulped it down like it was the last thing on Earth and he had been in the Sahara. I left him to go get ready. I was getting dressed as he came in and pulled his shirt off.
I widened my eyes as blood trickled down his side. He sat on the bed and moaned as I was running to the bathroom. I grabbed rubbing alcohol, Neosporin, and band-aids. He was pressing his shirt to his side when I came back in. Rolling my eyes, I knelt down in front of him and searched for a clean spot on the shirt. I poured alcohol onto it and cleaned up the wound. The culprit was the scar I saw yesterday on his body. I dabbed Neosporin on it as he hissed at the touch. Almost done, I slapped a band-aid on it and sat back to admire my handiwork. He ruffled my hair, "Doctor Thompson stitched up her humble servant."
"How did that even happen?"
"No idea, but I'm glad you were here to help me."
"What are you going to do about a shirt now?"
"Um, I have no idea. We could run back by my house and grab one."
"No time, I think I have a hoodie of yours." I shuffled through the clothes in my closet before I saw what I was looking for. He slipped it on as I frowned. I liked him shirtless so much that wearing clothes seemed unfair. He hugged me and brushed my hair behind my ears before kissing my cheek. "Thank you, love."
My breath was caught in my throat and my heart was beating out of my chest. He never did this to me before, so why now? My eyelids fluttered and I looked up at him. He held my hand and kissed me again. On the lips. This wasn't any kiss, this was a hungry one. He pulled me close to him and pushed his lips further against mine. My hands were locked around his back as he pushed my head against his. We heard Chyna honking for a few minutes before he finally released me.
Without a word, he left. No explanation for why he practically bit my mouth off. I huffed and grabbed my stuff. It was not fair that he was allowed to make me grow weak in the knees, but he didn't appear to do the same thing. I raced outside and caught his arm. "What the hell was that?"
"Am I not allowed to kiss my girlfriend?"
"That wasn't any kiss and you know it, so care to explain lover boy?"
"Are you riding with me or Chyna?" I knew there was no point in chasing the issue, if he didn't want to talk about it, he wouldn't. "Chyna."
"Fine, then I get to do this again." He pulled me against him and kissed me in the same way that he had a few minutes ago. I gave in and let him explore my mouth. Little fireworks let off in my head as he let me go and walked to his car.
I crawled into the beetle and Chyna stared at me with her mouth open. "What was that kiss over?"
"I have no idea. He did that in my room when you pulled up and just walked away like it was nothing." She turned to stare at his car in front of me. He wasn't behind the wheel. I heard a tap on my window and yelped. He was standing there. "I changed my mind."
Without protest, I crawled back out and followed him to his car. He opened the door and lifted me inside. He jogged around to the other side and climbed in. We pulled away from the curb and Chyna followed behind. "Care to explain?"
"Do you know what you do to me?"
"I make your love life into a cliche."
"Or, everyone's life is a cliche, no matter how unique and special they think they are, we all live and we all die. Some of us fall in love - like you and I- and others live lonely. Some have kids young and others wait. Some have horror stories, and others live 'normal' lives. Because there is no normal, everything is considered a cliche. But that is not what I meant."
"Then I'm lost."
"Cyd, I want you so bad. I want all of you, your mind, body, and soul. I only have two months to make it mine, and two months is not a long time. You want me too, you made that evident yesterday, and believe me, it was hard to stop. But I want it to be different. I want you to do it with no regrets, I want you to be sure that I am what you want and that I won't scare you. I am terrified of hurting you because of that bastard. I can't live like that. I kissed you like that partly out of anger, partly out of sexual frustration, and partly because I want you so fucking much it hurts."
"I don't know what to say to that Alex." We had arrived at school and he leaned in to me.
"Then don't say anything, just kiss me." I did. I kissed him with the same passion that he had kissed me with. I heard the bell go off in the distance, but I didn't care. Anderson would cut us some slack and I was to involved with him to move. His hands roamed my body and mine did the same to his. Our tongues explored each other frantically like this was the last time we would kiss. He was laying on top of me and I was pulling him closer, I wanted our bodies to become one. Then some bastard had to knock on the window.
