I caught my breath in my throat and sat up. I ran my hands through my hair as chills covered my body. I looked down at my bare body then around my bed, seeing it empty besides me being in it.

I mumbled wow and faced forward. Well, that was stupid of me. I swung my feet to the side of the bed and stood as a soreness shot through both of my thighs.

I flipped on the light and the shower. I glanced over my reflection in the mirror. I took my shower and dressed in my work uniform afterwards. I tied up my shoes as my ponytail continued to swing from side to side.

I grabbed my phone to look at the time but the notification from a message blocked it. I unlocked it, read it, and scoffed.

It's not what it looks like I got called into work early this morning

I read the time and saw I had twenty five minutes to get to the diner. It was still something to get used to but I took my job seriously. I slid my phone into my bag without responding and pulled the strap across my body.

I stepped through my doorway and headed to the door. I greeted and hugged everyone first.

"How long is your shift?" Ivy asked.

"Only for three hours since it's Sunday." I answered while hugging my dad, Evan.

"You had a friend over? I saw a pickup in the yard last night."

"Uh yeah. Where'd y'all go?"

"To that music festival downtown. Where'd you go?"

"There. We went there." I answered, opening the front door and grabbed my keys. He looked at me with his lips perked.

"I didn't think you'd like something like that."

"I like trying new things."

"Ah .. Like last night?" He asked, grabbing an apple out the fruit basket. I swallowed.

"Huh?"

"The music festival, like that." I nodded.

"Oh yeah. I have to go before I'm late." I said quickly. He agreed as they all said goodbye. I breathed out as I stepped to my car, swinging the driver door open.

Redd coughed into his arm before leaning the chart up against the wall, still writing information down about the current engine we were working on.
