Chapter Nineteen: Day 24

"Good news, Allie. The newest CT scan looked good. The doctors said the swelling is still going down. It's not going as fast as they would like it to, but the most important thing is that it continues to go back to normal. They are considering giving you some medicine to help with that, but I think they want to wait for another week or two first.

"Guess what I brought today? I thought you might enjoy it if I read a book to you, so I grabbed the first Harry Potter book on my way out. Crazy to think how young we were when we read the books. Our parents started reading the first book to us because we were only seven or eight. Then one day we just started taking over because we were tired of always having to wait for one of them.

"I loved our reading sessions. We both had our own copies and we were always curled up on the couch right next to each other. It probably looked funny, both of us hunched together like this but still reading from separate books. I wouldn't be surprised to find a picture of that somewhere in the picture box."
