I walked into world history and took my assigned seat by the quiet and nice River Phoenix.
I've went to school with him all of my life and I guess you could say I had a crush on him. How could you not? He was respectful, sweet, smart, and so cute.
"Hi, America." He said quietly, still writing something in his notebook.
"Hi, River." I smiled.
He shyly smiled back then looked back to his papers.
After class, I was gathering my things to go when River said my name.
"Yes?"
"I know this seems weird, but um, here." He tore the paper out of his notebook and ran towards his friend Keanu.
I looked down and it said:
"America is as bright as the sun
America is as breath takingly beautiful like a healthy flower
She's beautiful like the sunrise at dawn
America is what I like
America is truly bright
....will you go out with me? Call me- 867-5309"
I gasped and felt my heart start to race as I hurried and scurried off to my next class, waiting for the end of the day and I could get home to call him.

I rolled his number on the rotary key pad as soon as I got into my room.
After three rings , he answered.
"Hello?"
"River?"
"Hi, America!" I could see his handsome smile.
"River. I would love to go out with you."
I heard him breath. "Oh, that's great news. How about Saturday night? Movies?"
We agreed and talked for a few more hours. I learned more about him and I was in disbelief. I couldn't believe River Phoenix asked me on a date and gave me that sweet note .
Speaking of the note, I folded it up and put it in my keepsakes jewelry box.
