I got a taxi and reached the apartment room after a few minutes. I knocked on the door. "Katie, open up. It's me."
After 30 seconds, she unlocked and pulled the door in a hurry. "Where were you?! I was worried someone strangled you. And you left your phone here as well, you idiot!" She snapped at me.
Without uttering a single word, I entered and threw the shopping bag on the bed. I then jumped on to the other side of the bed and buried my face in the pillow.
"Hey what happened?" Katie said in a low worried voice and came towards me.
"Nothing much."
Cassie? Tell me what's wrong."
"I said, nothing! Can't you hear? I'm tired of your always talking tongue. Let me rest!" I threw my anger at her. A tear flew down my cheek as I tried to hide my face.
Agh! I hated my eyes. Whenever I would enrage with anger, tears would start rolling over my face.
"Shut up and tell me what happened you little angry potato!" She snapped back and sat beside me on the bed.
"Cassie? Look at me." Her tone changed and her voice was now tender. She touched my shoulder gently.
I sat up and put my head in her lap. "I..I met Elan. And I've not done justice."
"What? You met Elan? But..."
Before she could ask me several questions, I told her the whole scenario of what had just happened.
"Quiet now. It's okay. You're my strong girl, hm?" Katie calmed me down.
"I spent most of my life trying to be hard, trying to be strong. But there's a limit to everything."
"I know babe, I know.."
"Can you imagine? He..he rescued me twice from his own men. He saved both our lives. And what did I give him in return? A formal, stupid thanks? Oh no wait. I left him first and now I hurt his feelings by shutting him down rudely."
"Cassie, it's not your fault. You know it's not. Please stop hurting yourself now. You look really ugly by the way." She tried to cheer me up with her bad jokes.
"Haha shut up. And okay enough with the sentimental mode. I'm going to take a nap now." I removed away my tears and took a deep breath while closing my eyes.
Elan's POV:
I stopped at a mart to buy a bottle of drink to relax me a bit before I reached my office. I wanted to get Cassie out of my mind for once.
I bought my drink and sat back in my car. I took a sip and closed my eyes. She appeared before my eyes again. The events of today's morning started repeating in my mind like a movie scene.
"Damn it!" I hit my hand on the steering wheel with rage. After a few seconds, my phone rang.
I looked at the screen but it was an unknown number. I didn't pick up at first, but when it kept ringing, I decided to give up.
"Hello?"
"Elan?" A female voice spoke on the other end.
"Yes?" I asked confused.
"It's Katie. Hope you remember me."
