27. Rowan.
"You need to leave" I push at his chest but he doesn't budge, he just continues to stare at me with a fire in his eyes.
"No" He glares "I'm sick and tired of your shit Rowan"
"Now is not the time, please" I beg.
"Babe, what's taking so long?" I hear Harry yell from the kitchen, and my heartbeat quickens, as I hear his footsteps.
"Please? I'll come to see you tomorrow, I'll bring you breakfast? In your office?" I frantically ramble, looking back over my shoulder "Please" I beg "Just go"
"Fine, you better be there" He points a stern finger at me and gets into his car, speeding off just in time for Harry to walk up behind me.
"What's taking you so long?" He asks.
"Sorry, I was just looking at our front yard, think of all the things we could put there" I tap my chin, trying to look in deep thought.
"It's really not that big" He chuckles and I shrug.
"Just trying to be optimistic"
"Right, of course" He nods.
"Well come inside. It's late" He wraps an arm around my shoulder and leads me up the steps, making sure to shut and lock the door behind us. I walk into the bedroom and lay down in bed, going to sleep, just like I had been before Austin showed up.
When I wake up the next morning, Harry's gone, already at work probably. I walk to Amelia's room, see if she's sound asleep. I text my mom and ask her to come over here so I don't have to wake her and I can get to Austin's work. When she shows up, I don't let her ask questions before I'm in my car and drive to Austin's building.
I park and take the elevator up, storming to his office. I swing open the door and glare at him. He stops talking to whoever is sitting in his chair. He turns around to look at me before looking back at whoever is in his chair and as if I should be surprised, McKenna sits in his chair.
"Rowan"
"You say my name like you're surprised I'm here. I told you I would be remember?" I cross my arms over my chest and he clears his throat.
"I'll see you soon" He says to McKenna and she rolls her eyes as she stands up, walking out of his office.
"Is she still begging for her job back?" I raise an eyebrow and he sighs.
"Rowan-"
"No, you tell me you hate that I won't get back with you but every time I turn around she pops up out of fucking no where" I yell "I'm sick and tired of it. If I can't even trust you now, how can I trust you in a relationship?"
"The same way you did when we were together before"
"I can't" I shake my head "You seem to think this is a game, but it's not"
"I don't think this is a game" He argues "But you're not the only one who's sick and tired. I'm sick and tired of having to compete with someone who clearly doesn't love you as much as I do. You honesty think that he's better than me? He's fucking not"
"You're the worst thing that's ever happened to me" I grit, not meaning it, but saying it out of anger.
"Say it again" He walks towards me until my back is pressed against the wall.
"You're the worst thing that's ever happened to be" I repeat, narrowing my eyes at her.
"Then I'll leave you alone" He opens the door to his office "But just know, that if you leave right now, I'm gone for good. Don't expect me to call, or stop by. And don't ever make it seem like I'm walking out again because this is your fault. Not mine"
"Consider yourself forgotten" I shrug, walking out of his office door. It slams behind me, the whole floor rattling. If I wasn't so angry I'd be embarrassed by the stares I'm receiving, but I just pretend to not see them, keeping a scowl on my face.
"Hey, what happened?" Trish asks, running beside me.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"With Austin?"
"Oh, that" I chuckle "Nothing" I shake my head "I've just realized that he's not worth anything I have to give anymore. I deserve better than anything he's done to me and it took me way too long to understand that" I walk into the elevator, shutting the door and taking it down to the ground floor.
I walk out to my car and drive home, walking inside. My mom smiles when she sees me, but I fail to return it "What's wrong?"
"How's Amelia?" I ignore her question.
"She's been asleep the whole time" She answers "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I'm just tired and want my daughter. I'll call you soon" I walk up the steps and to Amelia's room. I pick her up and carry her to my bedroom, laying her in bed beside me.
"Mommy" She groans.
"Shhh Baby" I kiss her forehead, pulling her into my chest. She falls back asleep, and I look down at her, tears filling my eyes. I close my eyes tightly, small tears escaping. My phone rings in my pocket, as if there wasn't any better time and I pull it out to see its Rosas dad.
"Hello?"
"Hi Bug" He chirps.
"Hi"
"How are you?" He asks.
"I've had better days but I'm alright" I chuckle sadly.
"Well, I think I know what'll cheer you up"
"Oh yeah? What is it?"
"Remember 10 years ago, we were looking for that car part, but they said it was discontinued and no one had one?"
"Yes I remember" I nod.
"Well, I found one and I want you to come down to help me put it in soon" He says.
"Oh my, that's great" I grin "Hell yeah I'll be there! How about tomorrow?"
"That works, I'll see you tomorrow"
"See you tomorrow" I say, hanging up the phone.
