Happy Labor Day😇

28. Rowan.

"Hi Bug" Rosa's dad wraps his arms around me in a hug "I've missed you"

"I've missed you too" I hug him back tightly.

"Where's the little one?"

"She's with my husband, I didn't think this was the best scene for her" I motion to his dirty garage "There's a lot of things she can pick up and eat"

"Right" He nods, then pulls the sheet off our car. A content sigh falls from my lips as its uncovered, I've missed doing this so much and being able to makes me so happy. He grabs the car part we were looking for and unboxes it while I pop the hood.

"So, I talked to your mother..." He trails off, cleaning off the part with a rag "What's going on?"

"She's just blowing things out of proportion, I'm fine but she doesn't get that" I sigh.

"You're not fine" Phil shakes his head "You might think you are but you're not. You're pale, you're skinny, you look exhausted"

"I also have a three year old daughter" I point out.

"Yes, I know" He nods "But I know what exhaustion from a child looks like, versus exhaustion from life in general. And you, are exhausted from life" He points a finger at me.

"I'm just so confused" I sigh "I don't know what to do and it's so frustrating"

"What do you want to do?" He asks.

"Be alone" I frown "It's so much easier if I'm just on my own, or it seems that way"

"I'm going to give you a word of advice, go with the person that means the most to you, not the safest route" He tells me "You'll regret it everyday if you take the safe route"

"Mom, what's wrong?" I ask as I answer the phone, she's called me three times. I had just walked into my house from being with Phil, surprised that Amelia hadn't run towards me.

"I've got terrible news-"

"Hold on" I mumble as I hear a thud from upstairs "I'll have to call you back, someone just dropped something" I roll my eyes as yet another thing is added to the list of things I need to clean.

"Rowan wait-" She says but I already had my thumb on the end button. I put my phone into my pocket and walk up the steps. I look in Amelia's room, seeing it's empty. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion and walk towards my room, seeing it's empty as well.

"Looking for someone?" A sickly familiar voice whispers in my ear, their hand on my hip. A shiver runs down my spine and I freeze in my place "If only I knew where they went" He moves to stand in front of me, tapping his chin.

"Where are they?" I grit.

"I didn't know you had a daughter" He chuckles, ignoring my question "She doesn't look like your husband though"

"She's not his"

"Ah, so you were whoring around like usual huh?" He tuts.

"I wasn't whoring around. I was pregnant when I met him" I cross my arms over my chest, rolling my eyes.

"Don't fucking roll your eyes at me" He shoves me, making me fall to the floor. I wince in pain as my head hits the wall, but he only chuckles "Come along" He grabs me by my pony tail, dragging me along the floor. It takes everything in me not to yell in pain, but I didn't want my daughter to worry about me "Oh look, there they are" He coos, yanking my up from the floor by my ponytail.
