"Babe, who was that?" I asked, as Jack slouched into the room.
"Shane. He wants us to visit him. And... if we can't help him avoid the death penalty, to come to his execution..."
"He what?"
"You heard me."
I thought for a moment. "I think we should do it."
"I thought you'd say that." Sean sighed. "He wants Joey there too. But he said Daniel won't pick up the phone."
"I'll call them." I pulled out my phone.
"Let me do it." Jack took it from my hands. "I'll talk to Daniel. One victim to another."
I nodded. "That makes sense. Hey, I told Eanna I'd show him the Museum of Death. We're taking the kids, Avi, Aaron, and Hanson. Meet us there when you're done with Dan and Joey?"
"Sure. Sounds morbidly fun."
I laughed, kissing him goodbye before I walked off to find the kids and Eanna, battling in my head whether or not to help Shane cheat death.
