I got the call a few days after I had talked to Mark.
"Jack."
It wasn't Mark on the phone. It was Aaron Ash. His partner. My worst fear had manifested.
"Aaron...?"
"He's alive. He got shot. The raid went bad. But he's alive and awake. He wants you home."
He was alive... "Consider me there."
"Hurry. He's alive, but they haven't stabilised him. He's been drifting in and out. We lost him twice."
"Oh god..."
"Get here soon."
I hung up, and ran to pack up my bag.
