Mac
It was going on 11:30pm and I was sitting on the lounge by the front door waiting for Demi to come home. I know she had said no later than 11 but I also knew it was a party and she could just be having fun, lost in the moment. I checked my phone again and sighed when I realized she still hadn't contacted me. It didn't last long when I heard her familiar laugh and shouting thanks to someone who drove off before she even made it to the front door.
I waited patiently, expecting a warm welcome, but when she opened the door and stumbled in I felt a familiar pang deep in my stomach. I rushed to her side and put her arm around my shoulder to try and hold her up. She stumbled and giggled at her misstep as I felt my hip slam into the bench next to the door, I hissed in pain and heard her sigh.
I was scared to leave her alone but her next move made me run, she sighed and pulled her arm from my shoulder before muttering "useless brat" she shoved me off her and I fell into the side table. I tried to catch myself before I fell completely, but I only managed to slide my hand along the top of the bench. My hand swept along and slammed into the vase that sat on top, which fell off the edge and smashed into pieces.
"That was a gift from my Mum, you stupid whore!" I couldn't stop myself from falling and as I tried to take a step backwards to get away from Demi and attempt to steady myself, my foot caught on a piece of the vase and sliced open which caused me to fall backwards.
I shuffled backwards as Demi took a step towards me and snarled, she went to take another step and I shot up, sprinting to my room and locking the door. I heard her trudge up after me but she never came to my door, she went to her room and shut her door. It had been about an hour since she'd shut her door and I snuck out of my room and tiptoed across to her door. Once I was satisfied I could hear her faint snoring I rushed back to my room and text Mar.
Me: Hey Mar what happened at this party tonight, I know you picked Demi up but who dropped her off and how much did she drink?
I went back downstairs with my phone and began cleaning up my blood off the floor as well as the vase I had broken. I just hoped Demi didn't still hate me tomorrow. Once I had cleaned the floor I crept back upstairs and opened her door making sure she was asleep, the stench of alcohol filling her room, I crept into her bathroom and smelt vomit but it looked as if she'd at least managed to get it in the toilet.
Once I was done checking on her I went back to my room and took my phone from my back pocket, shutting the door behind me. I made my way to the bathroom and cleaned my foot, putting a small bandage around the cut and unlocked my phone to see if Mar had replied.
Despite it being nearly 1am Mar had replied.
Mar: Hey Kiddo, yeah I took Dems to the party but when I left at 7 she was sober and just joking around with Miley, what happened?
I wanted to spill everything, tell Mar exactly what Demi did but I was scared. She might be mad if I tell her, so I lied.
Me: Nah it's okay she was just staggering around but she's in bed and asleep now so it's fine
Mar: Kid if something happened tell me, alcohol messes with Demi and she shouldn't even be drinking. She knows that.
Me: She was drunk and she struggling to walk but other than that it's fine
I knew I should tell Mar, she's Demi's best friend and basically my sister but I didn't want to worry her and I definitely didn't want Demi to find out I had blabbed.
...
I got up early the next morning and grabbed a bottle of water and some Advil and took it to Demi. I slowly opened her bedroom door, trying not to be too noisy and slowly crept to the bed. She was lying horizontally across her bed with a ring knotted into her hair and makeup smeared everywhere. I sighed before gently shaking her awake, when I heard her groan and rub her hand over her face I moved back so I wasn't too close.
