I locked my bathroom door, knowing Demi would be in my room any minute, and quickly cut up the powder with a razor blade.

It burned as it went up my nose and I held the bridge of my nose to try and help, which honestly was useless because it did absolutely nothing.

I cleaned up the mess and hid the tiny bag in a random jacket in my closet. There was a knock at my door just as I took a giant gulp from the vodka bottle stashed under my bed.

I really should find more original places to hide this stuff but honestly? Demi hadn't found it yet so who cares, plus it isn't like she's my mom or anything.

My door swung open and Mar strode in, seeing the vodka bottles I had stashed under my bed.

"Jesus Mac, could you at least try to hide that stuff from us"

I rolled my eyes and pulled her into a hug "In my defence I didn't expect you to come waltzing in! Demi always waits for me to say come in"

It was marissa's turn to roll her eyes and shoved my shoulder slightly "So maybe I should tell Demi not to knock anymore then?"

"God no! Look I'm sorry I will get rid of them I promise"

She gave me a look that said she didn't believe me, but dropped the subject anyway.

"So you're hanging out with this Alex kid a lot, are you guys dating?"

I looked at her sideways "if I am will you stop me seeing him?"

"Of course not, I just want to make sure you're safe and he's good for you"

I rolled my eyes and groaned "So basically yes youp will stop me, he's great and we just hang out"

"Seems to me that he might be part of the problem?"

"God you know what, no, he isn't the problem your damn best friend is! She thinks because she brought me here that she controls me! I'm not some puppet for her to play with!"

"Woah Kid, you know you aren't a puppet what is going on with you?"

"Just leave me alone Mar, I want to be alone"

"Well Demi said she's going out with Nick tonight for some performance or something so she'll be back hella late. Call me if you need something and don't burn the house down okay?"

"You're leaving me here?"

Mar looked at the door and then back at me "Well yeah? Do you want me to stay?"

"No! I mean I'll invite Alex over and we will watch movies"

She narrowed her eyes at me and I quickly smiled at her.

I flicked Alex a text.

M: Party tonight?

A: Fuck yes, all the usual?

M: Hell yes, invite some people I don't care. My house is huge and this will be epic!

I didn't bother waiting for a reply and switched to call Rex.
