MAC

I slammed the door behind me, racing upstairs to my room. It wouldn't have mattered though, because yet again Demi wasn't home. I pulled out my phone and saw no texts from Demi, no update on when she'll be home or where she is; just empty silence.

I had just set up my laptop with Netflix when I heard the front door slam and Demi started yelling. I slowly crept down the hall to the top of the stairs, where I watched Demi pace back and forth listening intently on the phone.

"What the fuck do you mean I'm hurting her!? I'm the one who takes care of her! I gave her a place she could actually call home!"

Demi ripped the phone away from her and placed it on speaker as Marissa screamed out at her "God you are so fucking selfish Demetria!! You're hurting her! You're just too fucking self-absorbed to see it!"

"Back the fuck off Marissa I'm not hurting her! I'm the one who pulled her out of an abusive home!"

"You know what Demi, you are so stuck on the fact you think you saved this girl that you can't see that you're the one she now needs saving from! If you don't start act like her mom again I will come and get her Demetria! You are completely neglecting your kid, you barely see her Demi!"

My breath caught in my throat and I silently begged Marissa to let it go, she was only going to make Demi mad.

"I have to work Mar! What do you suggest I do? Just turn down amazing offers like Glee? I need to work and Mac is doing just fine!" Demi hissed, I could tell she was growing angrier by the second.

"You fucking stupid bitch Demi! She isn't okay! She calls me crying, freaking out about how to take care of you! She calls me asking why her mom keeps taking anti-depressants when she knows they aren't good for her! God Demi get your fucking head out of your ass and take care of her! She's just a kid and you are putting too much pressure on her!"

Demi went to speak "I am not –"

Marissa quickly cut her off "Don't fucking interrupt Demi! Take care of your freaking kid! When was the last time you checked her for cuts? Or made sure she ate a proper meal! She's making sure you eat and you don't hurt yourself and you're just taking her for granted! She's falling apart trying to take care of you, she's killing herself to make sure YOU don't kill yourself!"

I sighed, Marissa didn't even know how right she was. I was back to eating maybe once every two days, making sure it was only enough to keep me from passing out. I was cutting almost every day but I made sure Demi was safe, she was the only thing that mattered to me.

"God Demi if you don't start taking care of her, I won't hesitate to have her stay with me instead. You weren't ready to be a mom and now we are finally seeing that!"

I gasped at what Marissa said and nearly ran down the stairs, but Demi's next sentence made me stop.

"I know I'm not! I know I'm not ready to be a mom!"

I staggered back to my room, struggling to breathe, and quickly unlocked my phone, typing out a text to Lauren.

M: Lo Lo...Demi...she...I can't do this anymore Lo :(

I dropped my phone on my bed and stumbled to my desk where I grabbed two blades. The reality of what Demi said hit me and her words echoed in my head.

"I know I'm not ready to be a mom" I knew she would regret taking me in, she wasn't ready and I was too much. Everyone was right I was ruining her, I was going to make her worse.

I heard my phone ding and took the blades to my bed, stopping to lock my bedroom door first.

L: Mac what's going on!? Baby girl call me!
