"Baby girl c'mon! we need to leave like now if we want to make this plane!" I could hear Demi screaming from downstairs. She had helped me pack a bag and I was, in theory, ready to meet her family except for one thing. I was still in my pyjamas. "Demi I can't find anything to wear!!!" I yelled back at her and breathed a sigh of relief when I heard her footsteps coming up the stairs "Baby girl, you've been getting ready for an hour!" she stepped into my room and laughed.

"Oh my god babe, did a fucking hurricane hit in here or what? Oh hey cute hair and makeup, now only if you had clothes to match!" I giggled and sighed "I can't find anything to wear, we packed the perfect bag for while we are there but we left out the most crucial thing. My first impression outfit, this will be the first time they see me and I need to look perfect and it's already so hard and oh god I'm going to have to eat with the family I can barely handle eating with you just you. Oh god, oh my Go –" Demi cut me off before I could continue my endless rant.

"Baby girl breathe, you look perfect, you are perfect and my family will love you. Don't stress about eating both Mom and me are in the same boat okay and I can help you. Now how about your ripped high waisted denim shorts and your black get fucked shirt with your black converse and your 'I wanna fuck Miley Cyrus' beanie?" my mouth dropped open and I stared at Demi who was now holding all these items of clothes in front of me "ARE YOU CRAZY!? I'm meeting your MOM!!" she giggled and shrugged "At least she'd know you get your style from me" and winked at me. She's fucking crazy and I'm so done.

"You are no help! I was thinking my black skater skirt with my white California crop and my black converse?" Demi nodded and smiled at me "I knew you would know what to wear, you just needed a little push" winking at me again. "Stop with the winking and you're useless and I hate you. Now get out so I can change and maybe for once in your ridiculous life we won't be late for something" Demi smiled and put her hands in mock surrender before turning and racing down stairs with my bag.

...

Max lead us through the airport and I'm glad at the last minute I had grabbed the beanie Demi had suggested. Not many people noticed us thanks to my beanie and Demi's hat and sunglasses, those who did got a quick photo or autograph and didn't make too much fuss. As we approached the gate I realised that the only other plane I had been one was to bring me to Demi, this one was to take me to her family.

I could feel my nerves pick up as I imagined every scenario where Demi's family ridiculed me and told Demi she made a mistake having me in her care. I closed my eyes and grabbed Demi's hand as I took a deep breath and tried to remind myself that I had been a lovatic for so many years and Demi's family always seemed so sweet and accepting. I felt Demi squeeze my hand as we moved through the aisles to our seats. Wow first class is amazing. "Baby girl try not to stress; they will love you. They are so excited to finally get to meet you"

I nodded as Demi placed my bag under my seat "Okay baby this is your seat and mine is right behind you okay?" I nodded and sat in my seat as Demi took hers and plugged in my headphones. I had just locked my phone and closed my eyes when I felt my phone vibrate twice in my hand.

Demi: Breathe baby, they really will love you 💜

Mar: They will love you kiddo, they really don't bite

I smiled at both texts, especially Mar who had recently just started talking to Demi again, thank God. I sent through quick replies

To Demi: Thanks Momma...I know...I'm just scared...

To Mar: Thanks Mar, maybe we could do a movie night when we get back? Dem will be super busy filming!

I locked my phone and closed my eyes again hoping to get a bit of sleep in before we arrive. I woke 30 minutes later from a nightmare. I could feel the sweat on my skin and my breathing was far from even as I remembered the dream. We had arrived at Demi's house and the door flung open with her family. They looked at me and suddenly their eyes were black and heavily shadowed and Demi was laughing with them. Laughing at how I could believe she'd want me.
