It was about six-thirty when I finally wake up. It was an instinct since I was hungry. I looked around my dresser. My phone was still nowhere to be found.
Maybe I was wrong to think Francisco would give me my phone back. I got out of bed, I walk over to the bathroom. Taking a deep glance at myself in the mirror.
My hair was seriously a complete mess. I grabbed a brush from the drawer and started to run it through my hair. It was fixed in a jiffy. Jiffy? How are you five, no one uses that word.
My dresser had a tie dye tee-shirt and shorts folded under the tv. I take the twofer off, slipping on the shirt. I looked at myself in the body mirror.
It had a galaxy design text on it. It said across the shirt, Pink Floyd. One of my cousins favorite bands, which is probably why she got me the shirt, but I like it since it's tie-dye. I love almost everything thing in marble or tie-dye.
I put on my adidas shorts that had a pink on the outline. My bedroom door opens. Halle jumps up and down out of excitement.
"What's up?" I ask.
"You won't believe it. But Jo asked me out on a date, Saturday night." Halle answers shaking my arm up and down.
"I knew something was up between you two. You guys were talking for so long." I reply. Halle smiles.
"Jo is such a sweet guy. He's so smart, kind, aw perfection." Halle said blushing.
"I agree with you, but I think someone has a crush." I smirked folding my arms.
"Well when you left with Rafael. Martinez told Francisco he needed to do your chores or else he was off from the next two missions." Halle says.
That's why he was cutting the cucumbers in the kitchen earlier. Hopefully his finger was fine. Don't think that, he was being a total dick this morning.
"Well that was nice of Martinez." I reply gritting my teeth. Halle does the original sad puppy face she gives me when I would say no. Honestly, it works.
"Something else isn't right." Halle points out. She was right, something wasn't right.
"Because earlier today, Francisco cut his finger with the knife." I answer her somewhat concerning question. "And my stupid self helped him."
"Go job, you let Francisco win. You can't let him win. You have to show that he doesn't matter to you." Halle advises me.
"And making the situation better by ignoring him. Having his blood go everywhere." I reply.
"Well after this, you need to ignore Francisco and not let him win. Or that will show you're weak." Halle says.
"Fine, fine. I will ignore him." I reply.
"Well, now we should probably go eat dinner." Halle says grabbing my hand.
"Yes, I could eat a horse." I admit.
We walk up the stairs. I find a couple empty seats. One by Jo, obviously for Halle. There was one by Tom and on the other Sid of him was Jazz.
I walk over and sat down between them. Tom smiles at me. He took a sip of the clear liquid with ice. I didn't know wether it was wine or water.
"Did you hear Francisco cut his finger while cutting the knife, hilarious." Tom says. I frown at that, but give him a false smile.
"And that's tour of the estate." Francisco's familiar voice struck me.
I turn around to find a brunette haired women, finish off with her tannish skin. She had a black romper on with black flat sandals.
"That's Valeria, the new maid who is also living in our estate." Tom explains whispering in my ear.
"What a fancy name." I reply quietly.
"Well she is part Italian." Tom says.
Francisco and Valeria sat down besides each other. Halle looked at me. Don't let Francisco win, you gotta show him you don't care.
"Poor little Francisco cut his finger today." Tom says. Francisco almost had the piece of food in his mouth before Tom made the comment. He set it back down on his plate.
"Aw, he had to put a little bandaid around his finger because he cut it." Jo comments back.
Halle narrows her eyes at me. Basically saying, pull out your trap card. Which I knew he was already mad about the other comments and tried to ignore it.
"Guys calm down. It's not his fault that he just doesn't know how to cut properly." I add. Jo and Tom look at each other and then at me.
"Fuck off." Francisco snaps at the three of us. Stabbing his fork deeper into the meat.
"Guys, seriously stop." Martinez says.
Francisco look at Tom and Jo, before giving me his serious face. I waited for a minute hoping there would be a burst of laughter. But he turned away finishing his food.
Dinner was silent after that. I was the one to finish third. I set my plate in the sink above another one. Francisco and the others still sat at the table.
It was my time to depart from their conversations. My room seems to be my safe place right now. I begin walking over to my bathroom, when I hear the door slam behind me.
"How dare you embarrass me in front of all of them. Including a new member, Valeria." Francisco snaps.
Maybe I was wrong about the safe place. My body felt like it froze. I didn't want to turn or talk. I kept walking to the bathroom which felt like miles.
I felt my shoulder being jerked. Francisco had a very upset look on his face as he stared deeply into my dark brown eyes as I started back at his.
"You don't keep walking, you answer my question. Why did you say that at the table?" Francisco says. I stayed silent.
"Why are you mad at me? I wasn't the one who started it." I ask. Francisco expression changed.
