The Night Before

I hurried parking my car onto the pavement as the gates close. Pulling the key from the ignition. Sitting there as a I took a deep breathe. I grabbed the two guns in the passenger seat, turning to open the car door.

I get of the car. Hurrying inside the house. I didn't want to any Russians to see me, if there was anyone following me. Martinez is going to be mad when he realizes Francisco's not with me.

I reached the front door. Using the house key on my key ring to open the door. Opening the front door. I see everyone in the main area of the house.

Martinez on his laptop. Lee and Tom both on their phones. Dakota, Liam, and Rafael discussing something at the table. Martinez looks up from his laptop.

"You are back! Where's Francisco?" Martinez ask setting his laptop onto the dining table.

"About that, during our escape. He didn't see a vent window. He stepped right over it and the screws were loose. He ended up falling in. I wanted to come and rescue him, but he told me to go." I answer. Martinez furrows his eyebrows together.

"Wait, is it Nikolay's estate?" Martinez ask. I nodded my head.

"Yea, why?" I ask.

"As long as Francisco stays alive everything will be okay." Martinez answers. "Sage is going to do everything to prevent them from killing Francisco."

"But don't we need to go and save them eventually?" Rafael joins in the conversation. In the corner of my eye. I see Tom and Lee came to join our conversation.

"Oh we are, but we need to order and collect as much resources as we can. These guys are not jokes, the highest rank on Nikolay's team as they can go. Tomorrow I will set everyone up for a job. That needs to be complete." Martinez says.

Sage

I pour the hydrogen peroxide onto a damp cloth, the cuts on Francisco's back made a shiver go down my spine. I pressed the cloth against his first cut. Which wasn't too big, none of the cuts were too big.

Luckily.

Taking the cloth from his back as moved down to his second cut. Pressing the cloth against it.

"Fuck." Francisco mutters.

Eventually after repeating this step, I am done. I put the cloth on to counter and close the hydrogen peroxide bottle.

"You should probably take your shower before Nikolay shows up and thinks we did nothing." I suggested.

"He has changed you." Francisco comments. As I put the hydrogen peroxide into the cabinet.

"What?" I question.

"Something about you isn't the same Sage I knew four months ago. Or even the same Sage who I met many months back." Francisco replies.

"That's not true Francisco." I said.

"Really? Has Nikolay gone sick to your head and made you hate me." Francisco replies. I raised my eyebrows at him.

"I don't understand." I reply.

"Really, because when you see me on the floor downstairs. All you did is stood there. Didn't even want to come and embrace me or nothing." Francisco explains.

He was right. Everything he said was right. All I have been doing is listening to Nikolay's commands. Instead of attempting to talk it out with Francisco. Getting up from my chair, leaving Francisco alone.

"Sage! It took you long enough to come and join us. Where's Francisco?" Nikolay ask. His name just made me want to burst into tears.

"He's taking a shower." I lied.

"Oh, well instead of forcing you to come and eat with us. You can bring a some food upstairs. For you and Francisco." Nikolay replies.

"Oh, okay. Thanks." I said. Nikolay nods his head. I grabbed the two plates from the cabinet.

Retuning back to the island that was full of food. I used the tongs to pick up pizza, lasagna, but there was one last thing that was my favorite little treat every night.

The rolls, hopefully they were still nicely made since Kimberly wasn't here. I set down my plate onto the counter, not trusting to let Francisco's plate down.

Using the tongs to grab the roll. As I felt a strong grip on my butt. I turned around quickly to find Marco. Who had a full blown smirk across his face.

"What the hell was that." I said.

"Grabbing your ass. Is that a problem?" Marco questions.

"Yes it is, that's sexual harassment." I reply. Marco laughs. Before leaning in closer to me.

"If it makes you feel better, it's pretty tight." Marco says. I felt my stomach churn.

I shoved him out of the way. Turning to grab my plate as I see Alessandro walking away quickly. I hurried away from the kitchen not even grabbing my plate.

I only carried Francisco's. Because I know that Marco did that for his enjoyment and so Alessandro could pour in some poison.

Getting up the stairs and finally getting into my bedroom was a relief. I close the door behind me, locking it. I started sinking down on the door. As I felt my vision get watery. A cold tear falls down my cheek.

I got up, putting the tray onto the dresser. As the bathroom door opens. I hurried and wiped away the first tear that came down my cheek, but then a second one joined.

"Sage, can we-" Before Francisco could even complete his sentence. He went silent. "What happened?"

"It's nothing! Don't worry about it!" I shouted. My voice had nearly cracked at every single word in that sentence.

As I thought Francisco would just leave me alone, I felt his arms around me, an embrace. But he pulled away to look at me.

"I understand that you don't want to speak on what happened. We will get out of here." Francisco says. I nodded my head. "Anyways you got food?"

"Yeah, let me take a small bite of each food to make sure they didn't poison it." I reply.

"No, besides where's your dinner?" Francisco questions.

"While I was down there, I was talking with someone. Alessandro was putting something into the food I had gotten originally. So I decided to just let you have my food." I said.

"I am really sorry for yelling at you earlier. I am just frustrated at why I am I here. It's been a day and Martinez hasn't even attempted to come by." Francisco replies.

"You are his number one favorite member of the mafia. He will come soon." I said.

"Just hope he doesn't forget." Francisco says.
