Chapter 50 - The Truth (Part 2)

AUDREY'S POV

Hindi ko na alam kung ilang oras na ang lumipas. My mind was too clouded to even be thinking about it. Ni hindi ko alam kung paano ko nakapag-palit ng damit o kung nakakain na ba ako.

I didn't care.

I just waited.

Ramdam na ramdam ko pa din yung sakit. It won't go away. At kahit na gustong-gusto kong umiyak ay hindi na ko makaiyak.

They wanted to explain further but, I didn't let them. Hindi din naman ako makikinig. Gusto kong manggaling kay Xavier lahat. Gusto kong manggaling sa kanya ang totoo dahil sa ngayon, iyon at iyon lang ang paniniwalaan ko.

The Doctor who came to look at Xavier's condition finally came out. Halos napatayo ang lahat including my parents except for me. I don't have the strength. Or maybe, I was just trying to be strong like everyone else.

Maybe, I didn't want them to see how messed up I am right now.

Kahit na ang pakiramdam ko ay bibigay na ang buong katawan ko.

Lalo na ang puso ko.

Saglit na kinausap ng doktor sina Tita Xaira at Tito Travis tungkol sa kundisyon ni Xavier. He even shook his head at them making the others gasp. Even though I didn't hear what he had to say, ramdam kong gumuho na ang kalahati ng mundo ko..

At nadurog na rin ang kalahati ng puso ko.

Ilang oras pa ay inilipat na sa isang private room si Xavier at pagtapos nun ay hinayaan na ng doktor sina Tita Xaira at Tito Travis na makita si Xavier.

Moments passed and they silently came out. The air became heavier than it did before ngunit wala ring nagsalita. Tita Xaira and Tito Travis just gave out their forced smiles at napayuko nalang ang iba samin.

They then sauntered towards me.

Bawat paghakbang nila papunta sakin ay bumibigat din ang dibdib ko but there I was, struggling to breathe normally.

I needed to.

Kasi pakiramdam ko ay mababasag ako.

Nanginginig akong hinawakan ni Tita Xaira as tears started forming in her eyes. "Xavier said he wants to talk to you." She said.

"Normally, the doctors won't allow it but they made an exception for you, anak." Tito Travis added.

Itinango ko na lamang ang ulo ko at kahit nanghihina ay maingat ako na naglakad papunta sa kwarto ni Chase.

As I got to the door of his room I clenched my fist and breathed heavily. Gusto kong tumakbo. Gusto kong umalis nalang. Yet, I know na hindi ko rin naman magagawa iyon. I have nowhere to go and I needed answers.

I then opened the door and Xavier welcomed me with a faint smile. "Retard."

Breathing became harder for me and lumps were forming in my throat. My whole body was trembling like it did earlier. Sobrang sakit sakin na makita sya na pinipilit nyang ngumiti inspite of all the tubes that was around his body.

It was too painful.

His hours inside the emergency room made a big difference on him. He was pale than ever including his usual pinkish lips. Nangingitim ang ilalim ng mga mata nito and his eyes we're showing a deep pain.

He was trying too hard to cover it up with his smile but I, myself knows that he's already at his limit.

Hindi na nya kaya.
