Chapter 35 - First Day

"Arghhh!!! I can't take this anymore! Ang sakit sa kamay!" Venice shrieked as she threw away the clothes she was holding.

Naglalaba kasi kami with.. bare hands. And for us who's not used to this kind of chore, nagsusugat ang mga kamay namin at ang hapdi nya. Sobra.

"Buti pa si Ash at Erin marunong." Sydney whimpered.

Bakit nga ba kami naglalaba? Well, this is one of the tasks Rachel gave us.

It was around 5AM when they woke us up. Sinabihan kami na free pa daw muna yung breakfast kaninang umaga since hindi pa kami nagtatrabaho. Free din daw muna ang lunch later pero pagdating ng dinner, we have to pay for the food that we will eat.

May pasok din ang mga bata today. We woke them up around 6AM for them to get ready. Pinaliguan, binihisan at pinakaen namin sila ni Xavier and after that hinatid namin sila sa school. Their school's a fifteen-minute walk from here kaya hindi ganun ka-hassle.

Pagbalik namin ni Xavier. Rachel gave us our tasks. The guys needed to do construction works. Magpapala, magpipintura at magpupukpok ng kung ano and whatsoever. Saming mga babae naman ay, household works. Una ng pinalinis samin ang quarters ng mga bata and it was freaking tiring!

Sobrang dumi ng quarters nila, makalat at mapanghi din. Nakakapanlumo but we have to do it. Marami kami pero hindi din nakakatulong yung iba dahil most of them, nagrereklamo. I cannot blame them though. Like me, they grew up being a princess. Everything was spoon fed to us. Everything we want is given to us within a snap of a finger. Never silang pinagwalis at pinagpunas sa kani-kanyang bahay at kwarto. This was our first at hindi sya madali.

Sina Erin at Ash lang yata ang may alam sa ganito. Ash grew up being independent while Erin, even she was rich and all, her Mother taught her these chores as her training. Kinailangan pa talaga naming magpaturo sa kanilang dalawa para lang makagawa kaming lahat ng maayos. They were really a big help dahil naayos at nalinis namin ang quarters.

And after that nabigyan kami ng unang sweldo namin. And how much is it?

Twenty f-ucking pesos.

And we were all like, "What the f-uck?" sa hirap ng trabaho na iyon we would only recieve Twenty pesos? Like hell! Gusto kong batuhin ng walis tambo si Rachel because of that. Nakakainis.

Our next task was to water the plants. Hindi sya simpleng pagdidilig lang. They gave each and everoyne of us a pale and a dipper for there was no water hose around. Or kung meron man, I think they hid it. Kaya everytime na mauubusan kami ng tubig sa pale, we have to go back inside the orphanage so we could get another set of water. And I'm telling you, hindi madaling magbuhat ng isang timba ng tubig. 

Nung una, okay okay lang yung pagdidilig. Akala kasi namin yung mga plants lang sa paligid ng ampunan ang didiligan. Pero nung sinabi ni Rachel na LAHAT ng plants sa buong place ang didiligan, para kaming nabaliw.

Is she out of her mind? Sa lawak ng lugar na iyon gusto nya lahatin namin? Bakit hindi sila nagpagawa ng sprinkler or something? Asan yung water hose? But since, we have no right to complain, we forced ourselves to do it. Bahala na si Batman. Hingal aso kaming lahat after that dahil sa paloob at labas namin makakuha lang ng tubig.
