Soul mate AU.
-----------------------------Calum:
It was said that when time runs out, you would meet your soul mate. When time runs out on this clock. Digital numbers that are tattooed on your arm. When it reads 00:00:00, your soul mate has those same numbers and you're searching for them, glancing at their arms. You even ask people to raise their sleeves if it covers the place of the clock.
Calum was walking around Sydney, Australia. He looked at the time remaining on his arm. 00:00:30.
Thirty seconds until he met his soul mate. She -- or he, Calum didn't judge -- would be the best person on the planet. Hopefully. What if she was demanding? What if she wanted his money? What if she threw his heart to the ground and stomped all over it?
Worry filled him, but he quickly shook it off. He was supposed to be excited, not afraid. So, he continued walking. Calum stared at the ground and he bumped into someone.
You stepped backwards before regaining your balance. "Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." You apologized.
"It's not your fault. I wasn't paying attention." Calum replied. His gaze went to your arm. He saw 00:00:00. Then, looking at his arm, he saw the same time. "Your arm. . ."
You looked at your arm and saw your time was up. "Oh!" Your eyes widened. "What about yours?"
"Same here. I think. . . I think you're my soul mate." Calum said.
You blushed, realizing he was right. "I-I guess I am." You smiled. "I'm (y/n). (y/n) (l/n)." You held your hand out. He shook it.
"Calum Hood." The boy beamed. "Nice to meet you."
"You too." You couldn't stop smiling. "Do you want to, uh, go get a cup of coffee?"
"Yeah, that sounds nice." Calum nodded. He held his hand out. "Shall we?"
You grabbed his hand, holding it. "We shall." You laughed before you both started walking to the nearest coffee shop.
Ashton:
You looked at the tattoo on the bottom of your arm. Written in black ink and cursive writing, it had the words "Love conquers all."
You couldn't choose what the ink said or if it was even words. Some people got a drawing. Doves, tigers, a wave, anything. Every tattoo was different for every couple. Only two people had the exact same tattoo.
You met Luke. He became your best friend. But, he had a different tattoo. Then, he introduced you to three of his friends. Calum, Micheal, and Ashton. Ashton. The one you weren't close to. You clicked with Michael and Calum, but the other boy just didn't connect with you.
You didn't hate him and, hopefully, he didn't hate you. You would just be acquaintances and you both knew that.
You were both at Luke's house. You saw Ashton and nodded at him, acknowledging his presence. He nodded back at you. You sat down on the couch. Ashton scooted over so you wouldn't be squished. "Thanks." You said.
"No problem."
You watched as the four boys talked about music, barely paying attention to their conversation. You got lost in your own thoughts and were brought back to everything when someone nudged your shoulder. You blinked before you turned your head, seeing Ashton.
"Sorry, did you say something?" You asked.
"Yeah," Ashton nodded. "We were just wondering if any fans sent you hate for hanging out with us."
