Book I
Chapter I

Jesse was casually strolling along a dirt path through the Emerald forest, thinking to himself, thinking about his friends, while mostly thinking about Petra. On a clearing surrounded by emerald trees shimmering in the satin sunlight, he saw a fallen tree trunk, and sitting on that trunk was Lukas, with nothing but his thoughts to accompany him. Being his close friend, Jesse chose to chat with him.

"Hey, Lukas! You doing OK by yourself?" Jesse said in a simplistic tone. Lukas turned his direction and replied in a calm tone "Hey Jesse. Yeah, you could say I'm alright, it's good to see you. Hey listen, you got a minute?" Jesse then responded "Oh, yeah! Sure. What's up?" as he sat on the log and pulled out his earphones. Lukas began with "Well, you see. Tomorrow's that day again, right?"

Jesse raised an eyebrow before noticing "Oh yeah! The big ball at the town square! Why, what's up?" Lukas worryingly replied "Yeah. And I'm having some trouble with, ya know-" But Jesse jokingly said "What? Seriously? Strapping cool guy like you? Any girl could fall for you. Why you worried?"

Lukas let out a brief chortle before returning "Ha. Yeah right. But it's not the date I'm worried about, it's who the date will be with." Jesse flicked his shoulder before Lukas continued "I know about that, that any girl could fall for me, but I'm just looking for the one, somebody kind, funny, and someone who would fill the hole in my heart." Jesse sarcastically responded "Aw, that's so sweet!" before responding "Hey! What about that other girl, Jesse? I mean, she might just fit your description!"

Lukas felt filled with jubilation for a brief second, before sinking back down in despair. "That's a good idea, but, it just doesn't feel right. What if she really isn't the type who would go for me? I couldn't accept such rejection, especially from a girl like her!" But Jesse reassured him, "C'mon, there's no way she would refuse to go after a guy like you. I believe she would love to go to the ball with you." Lukas then responded "What do you know about relationships?"

For a moment, only the sound of leaves in the breeze was the sound for miles, until Jesse broke the silence. "I'm gonna tell you something. Something I haven't told anyone. Not even Axel or Olivia." Lukas suddenly sprung with interest, "Yeah? Whatever it must be. It must be real important, since I'm the only one you would confide with. Well, what you waiting for. Spit it out!" Jesse then quickly replied "OK! I'll tell you. Keep your pants on. Uh- I- uh- uh- wait, uh- I l-, I lo lo-" Jesse was continually stuttering and Lukas noticed he was growing increasingly red.

"Spit it out, Jesse, come on!" Lukas muttered with a slight tinge of annoyance. "I...I...I kind am starting to like...P-Petra..." The sound of the word "Petra" caused Lukas to go off. He doubled over in laughter and began to make teasing remarks at Jesse. He began to sing humorously,

"Jesse loves Petra! Jesse loves Petra! Jesse loves Petra! Jesse loves P-E-T-R-A! Hahahahaha!"

Lukas' sudden explosion caused Jesse to chuckle too, but he serenely replied "Ok. We get it, you think it's funny. Now knock it off." But Lukas only continued to torment him. The best ones were

"Jesse x Petra sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"

"I can see it now. Your kids are gonna be born leaders AND toughies too! HAHA!"

"You know what? You should try to KISS her, you'll probably get FACE-SLAMMED!"

Jesse literally slapped sense into Lukas, which eventually got him to shut up. "But yeah. So, now you know it. Any words of advice?" Lukas stuttered "Uh, yeah, yeah. Advice yeah right. C'mon, you've known her for practically forever, why are you afraid that she'll never fall for a guy like yourself? Personally, I think you gotta chance with her than me with anyone!" followed by a 'just go for it. I'm sure she'll totally say yes.'

"Not exactly that good of advice, but it'll do. Thanks for the talk, mate." Jesse said, before getting up and beginning down the path to town. "Err. No problem, I guess," a confused Lukas said. He stayed in the forest opening until dusk before heading back home down the same path Jesse went.
