Lukas had known Jesse for so long, but he never knew her to be so extroverted, so warm-hearted, and so lovey-dovey (though not in a way too intimate!). He had found her so into him, it was as if she had fallen in love with him so quickly, he had almost no time to react. Lukas knew that on big date nights such as the ball, the man's worst nightmare would be to exhibit no skills in the art of dancing. Ironically and most unfortunate, Lukas cannot dance at all!

He worried there and worried there on what to do. He had to learn how to dance, but who can among his closest friends? Jesse can but cannot teach and Petra is on the improvise side. He took brief glances at the telephone and pondered over whether to keep his mouth shut or confess to Jesse that he cannot dance and hope she doesn't take it for granted. Lukas continuously scratched his head before taking a deep breath and dialling Jesse. Hopefully, if all goes well, she wouldn't mock this most dire situation.

The phone in Jesse's small house rang and she came to answer it. When she noticed it was Lukas, she answered "Hi. How's my sweetie-pie going?" in a bubbly and subtly flirtatious tone. Lukas laughed lightly before continuing "Hey, uh. Jesse? Do you mind if I... er..." Jesse was giggling on the other side of the line and literally hugging the phone "Yeah......?" She held a shrill note for a second, Lukas knew she was toying with him, which made him blush even redder than he already was. "...ask you a favour?" Jesse immediately responded "Anyting for my little sweetie-munchkin!" Lukas had grown to the childish nature of Jesse, but he saw her as a lovely, happy, little girl and loved her deeply for it, though he could never really admit this. "There's something I've been meaning to say… there was no right time to admit this, but I er... I... cannot dance..."

Lukas could hear a childish fit of laughter on the other side. Jesse had burst into laughter, but never exhibited any disappointment, which made Lukas feel relieved that she didn't dump him. "Aw, that's just so cute! You've asked me to attend the ball with you as my partner, and you admit you can't dance? And what made you think I would dump you? Not in a million years will I ever do such a thing, especially to a sugar-coated sweetie like you. Don't worry, I'll lead. That OK with you?"

Those words made Lukas feel so relieved. He said "Yes. Thank you for being so nice! Of course I'll let you lead- in the dance I mean. Hehe!" That sheepish reply never ceased to make Jesse giggle like a shy girl. "Ooooook, see you at the dance tonight" followed with an indistinct "love you!" Lukas didn't get the last part, so he replayed it through a sound-enhancing speaker. When he finally heard that lovely last part, he cried tears of joy. "She... she... she truly loves me? OMG had I never thought this day would come! She admits that she's into me that much!" Lukas felt so lovestruck, he could not breath. He had never heard her say such heavenly words to him, so he knew she truly meant it.

Lukas was breathless. He was deliberately told that a cute girl loves him and that she meant it. He could not've heard more pleasant whispers than "I love you" at all. It was at this time that Lukas felt completed. His heart cavity has been sealed with a tissue of love and newfound affection. Lukas' love for her could not have been stronger in 16 years, yet in those 16 years was he unable to admit his true feelings, as he had succumbed to fear of rejection. But tonight, he was gonna admit it. He was going to blatantly confess his true feelings for her.

"Jesse. You give me a hundred reasons to love you every day. And it grows stronger every day, knowing you're in my life. I truly love you."
