Act III: Petra

On the way to the ball, Petra saw a newly blossomed white rose, Jesse's favourite. Without haste, she gracefully plucked it and took it. She too had chose to attend as herself minus gloves and her bandana. When she reached the square, she awaited for her prince charming to arrive. Moments later, she was on the brink of crying because she feared Jesse had left her, but she was immediately enlightened when a smiling Jesse was heading towards her, He had a red rose in his hand. "Oh, thank you. How'd you know it's my fave?" Jesse coyly nodded before he said "Come on, do you seriously think no-one could see your true self? It was that beauty in your eyes that messaged my heart. And, here you go. I'm so sorry I arrived late, my attention turned to that rose when it was still blooming!" They embraced, giggling and flushed.

Jesse held out his arm, and Petra clutched it. "Let's do this" were Jesse's last words before they headed to the ball.

So. Destiny brought our lives to this point, and so destiny brought me to Jesse. I just don't wanna watch him fail and humiliate himself in front of everyone else. I care for him too much to have to witness this. I love you. If you feel the same for me, wait for the right moment to admit it.

C'mon Jesse. You can do this. I know I can. I love her so much that it pains me much to admit it. She's simply beautiful and I can't blame myself for that. Destiny had presented me with a gift and I mustn't squander it. It has brought upon me a wonderful girl to be my partner. I just want to admit my feelings so much, but I don't know if she feels the same for me back. Please admit your feelings for me soon. I love you.

When they entered the square, both were ironically chiding their feelings for each other, when in fact, they both fear being rejected. The dance had only just begun, and the orchestra begun to play. Jesse took Petra's hands, and staring deeply into her auburn eyes, lost himself, and lost himself further as they began to dance. The tempo was slow and solemn at first, but it soon turned to a wonderful song of love and affection. Jesse and Petra had danced for so long, he had resorted to place his head against Petra's pounding chest. She in turn, felt touché, and when the last lines began to play, she made Jesse look up into her eyes again.

The songbird was about to sing its heavenly song. The two smiled at each other, immediately noticed each others' affection for each other, and despite knowing that thousands of people would react, he kissed her. The dancing stopped to witness this true act of love on the dance floor, and a low "Awwww" filled the air, yet the couple was never fazed by this somewhat expected reaction. When the couple broke apart, they had flushed red so much, they laughed and engaged in a tight embrace. And to their surprise, everyone had mirrored their actions. Within seconds of that moment, 582 loving couples had too begun to embrace. The atmosphere was treated to an aura of affection. Simultaneously, the couples all broke apart and had continued to dance.

Except one. Our two lovebirds have discovered their feelings to each other, and now Petra wanted to stop for a moment. "That was beautiful, Jesse. I'm so happy yo have you in my life, I love you." Jesse smiled sheepishly at Petra, who in turn also smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, but me? I'm honoured that destiny meant for our paths to cross. I love you too."

The dance was over, and Petra wanted to be alone. She knew a good place to go, she snagged Jesse's arm and headed to another opening at the Emerald forest. Jesse was truly touched by this sudden expression of affection. The moment would be cherished forever, the moment their lips met. He would forever remember this moment tonight.
