Petra was not the kind of naïve girl on the block. No, she had that ongoing fire in her which Jesse simply couldn't ignore. Yet inside that rough concrete shell, was a little girl, a little sweet angel, deep in her heart. Jesse was among the few who could truly see that Petra was more than just an aspiring warrior. On the outside, exposed so nature could see in all its glory, was her tough-girl persona, but deep inside, chided away from most but Jesse and a select few, was that adorable angel she had always concealed so she could take up the toughie path.

Jesse had known Petra for practically forever, and just like Axel, would do anything to ensure justice has been served best, on a cold dish. She had grown particularly fond and protective of him as well, yet somehow managed to avoid any affection of any kind from radiating into the air. They were a true team in all ways but one. Her affection and care towards Jesse had always been purely platonic, or were they really?

On the day of the ball, the tough girl who used to be who Petra was will be transfigured into a more gentle Petra.

Petra saw Jesse sitting on an oak bench the next morning. Knowing that Jesse was clearly in need of someone to confide with, she happily chose to sit beside him to chat, for she had no plans for the day.

"Jesse! How's it going? Looking kinda bored there, something wrong?" she said, gleaming. Jesse looked up so his forest-green eyes could align with Petra's deep-brown eyes. They saw each other's need of a partner, which remained unknown to each other. "Hey, Petra. Good to know you're here. I... uh... kinda need to... talk to you for a while- I mean if you have a while to spare," normally, Jesse was a confident speaker, Petra immediately saw in his eyes that he was nervous. Letting out a small giggle, she replied "Of course I got time." She sat down on the bench, and Jesse began.

"Petra..." Jesse thought for a second before saying 'as you know, there's the big ball coming tonight, and I was thinking..' Petra saw where this was going, and began to crack a grin, amused as Jesse struggles for words. "Yeah?" Jesse was rosy red and flaming hot, Petra being in immediate proximity to him was making him extremely uncomfortable, for he would regret making a clown of himself in front of the girl he loves. "And I was kind of wondering... would you... you know... if you're seeing someone else, then that's perfectly fine," the last part turned Jesse pessimistic, making Petra grin even more as he approached the part where Petra's true affections for Jesse are proven. "...but given that you aren't as of now, is it... possible that... you would want... to... go to the ball with me?" in haste, Jesse rushed the last words and prepared for the worst. Petra began to laugh, before responding with endearment.

"Aw, that's why I like you! I always thought you were too frightened, or too nervous, or too whatever to ask anyone. But you plucked the courage to ask me. I thought no-one ever would, probs thought I was too tough. Somwhow, you recognised I wasn't all about that. I always found you cute, and I like you too, Jesse. Of course I'll go with you!" She suddenly grasped Jesse in a tight hug, Jesse was as happy as a little toddler on his first birthday. Jesse hugged her back.

"OMG. What a relief, so it's a date, then?" Jesse asked, still looking concerned. Petra laughed. "You're also funny. Yes it's a date. I'll be there." Before leaving, she hugged him again, but rather affectionately than desperately. She then left, heading to the square, leaving a touché Jesse in a trance, looking enchanté as he stares on.He then took off in the opposite direction. Heading for the square, Petra sighed. "Jesse, such an interesting character. I simply love him."
