Act II: Jesse (F)

She was still as happy-go-lucky as she was. Jesse, on the next day, was bringing joy and love to people's lives. She was the same sugar-coated sweetie-pie she had always been. Every boy wanted to hold her hand, yet to her, the one boy who stood out from all the others, was Lukas.

She saw him on the day of the ball, sitting by a fountain, looking miserable. Being the lovable one she is, she sat next to him and cheered him up. "Lukas, right?" The sound of her silk voice startled Lukas. "Uh, yeah. Hi Jesse." Jesse sat beside him and she tried to talk to him, but Lukas was too shy to talk, like he was ready to explode. Finally, he began to talk.

"You know, I've gotta admit. You're the one girl, I've always had affection for. All the others are too impulsive or ask too much. To me, you're the most amazing, most loving, and most... most... grah! I'm lost for words." Lukas was lost for words, so in a desperate measure, picked a beautiful red poppy and offered it to Jesse, who appeared heavily flattered, and in turn, blushed red as the poppy itself. She replied "Oh. Well, thank you! You're the only boy nice or even caring enough to do that to me. Thank you."

Lukas shyly smiled back, he was red as ever, but his heart was on overdrive when he noticed that Jesse was expressing feelings for him too. She had laid her warm hand on his and had shuffled much closer to him, making him far more nervous. "Soooooo, what I'm trying to say is, I was kinda wondering,,, if you'd agree to go to the ball tonight with me?" Lukas was so close to bursting, that Jesse's tickling laughter had instantaneously calmed his nerves which were bolting around like forks of lightning.

"Yes... YES! Of course I'd go with you!" Jesse replied, she was filled with so much joy in her sugar-frosted heart, that she tightly embraced Lukas. "I would absolutely love to go with you. After all, I feel the exact same towards you." Lukas felt so happy, he managed to get up, whilst still in a tight embrace with Jesse. "Oh my! This, I am so touched by your words! I feel like on cloud nine right now, knowing you feel the same for me. Thank you!"

They grinned at each other, before Jesse came up to him, saying "I like you, Lukas. Maybe there could be more between us." before hugging him again and kissing his cheek with affection and endearment. She then waved to him before sauntering away. Lukas was stunned. What had just happened, he would forever cherish this moment. He touched the cheek which Jesse kissed, before smiling and heading back to his cosy cabin.
