Jesse lay lifeless on the bed, breathing slowly. His mind was buzzing with thoughts and causing him to stir:

Petra, you don't understand! I didn't mean it that way, I-
No, I don't wanna hear anything else from you! I've had enough heartless crap from you!
But I said I was sorry! It's just that, I thought Lukas needed this time-
To get away from you? Heh, would I be so surprised… He was your best friend, friends are supposed to be there for each other, and you, you failed him.

Jesse hung his head in dismay, for she was right. He was supposed to stop Lukas, but he didn't. He just stood by and watched. I'm no friend. I'm… a failure. Petra turned away from him and stretched her hand put towards him in a 'I ain't listening' fashion, which further damaged him.

I still love you, Jesse. But bear that in mind the next time you actually try to stop one of your best friends from abandoning your own sister. She must be really damaged right now and what are you doing? Nothing!

The thoughts caused Jesse's lifeless corpse to produce a solitary tear which trickled onto the pillow. It's my fault.

Meanwhile at Jesse's cabin, she was asleep, alone and occupied by her thoughts, which caused her to mutter and shuffle

(Remember that Jesse still believes she caused Lukas to leave):

No, Lukas! Please, don't go!
I'm afraid you left me no choice. I obviously discomforted you, and I must leave to think.
But that was history! Please stay, I need you!
You don't need me, I'll only make you feel worse, your reaction, my response.

Lukas aporoached her and placing a hand on her shoulder, said "Know that I will always love you. And that I will always be with you. In here, and here" whilst pointing at her heart and brain. "If you really care for me, you'd let me go and leave me to think this through. If our relationship is to survive, it mustn't suffer any further." Lukas dropped his head and quietly whispered "Goodbye. I will return, soon" before kissing her cheek and departing. Jesse broke down in tears on the street.

She eventually stirred enough to be shook up, then she started to sob under her covers. Why did he have to go?
