He knew he was told not to do anything to affect his back for at least an hour, or the treatment would've been rendered useless. "Ok... so what can I do to avoid this from happening?" Jesse groaned for he cannot: lay in bed (he does NOT sleep on his front or sides), rest on his armchair, lean against something behind him. "Ugh. This'll be one of the worst hours of my life!" He reached the treehouse, and in an attempt to avoid throwing hid back out, slowly climbed so as to not exert his back muscles. Man does it burn so much when my back muscles move...

The ladder climb was already excruciating enough that Jesse wanted to just laze until the night came. He decided to look at the chocolates he collected, grabbed a knife, and started to shape it on his crafting table. "Easy does it... Don't wanna ruin one detail. Ok one more bit and, done!" From a small slab of chocolate, he had created a small wide bar of the chocolate with carefully-engraved concentric hearts. "Man that chocolate is hard, but I'll do anything for Petra. I love her so much..." He was flabbergasted when the magma infusion in the chocolate branded, on the chocolate, the words For my Darling in a fancy font. "Awesome! Enough of these and she'll be talking about how sweet my love is for her!"

He finished carving at least 8 pieces, each engraved with different words:
I love you ("Too conventional, but okay.")
Kiss me, Hug me, Love me ("Hopefully Petra doesn't exaggerate the first two.")
You complete me, I complete thee ("Yeaaaah. I suppose so...")
I'd give anything to be yours and to hear your heart beat ("That one's... kinda creepy.")
I'm yours. My heart echoes your love for me ("Um. What?")
My love for you is as sweet as me ("Now she'll think I'm a big sap!")

The last one shocked him:
Marry me, I want you, do YOU want me?

"Whoa! I can understand that I'm also supposed to express my affection for her with these chocolates, but 'marry me' is just too much for our love to handle!" When he wrapped the other pieces in silver foil, he looked at the eighth one, "Perhaps this one ought to be a special one" and decided to wrap it in red foil and placed it in the middle of the box. This activity took him at least 2 hours, and he was finally able to lean again.

His hands ached but he knew the ball was near and he had to prepare. "Tonight I should probably make a good impression, so..." He remembered a suit he kept for occasions such as this, it was as clean and shiny as on the day he first used it (ironically, never!) Jesse donned this suit, complete with a tie, a jacket (designed to mean business) and a fresh white rose. "Petra, I'm gonna blow you away tonight- Erm, with my good looks, not uh- whatever." Carefully grabbing his lavishly decorated box of chocolates and the reddest rose which hadn't withered nor decolourised since its picking, he breathed a deep one, and set out to meet his princess.

Tonight will truly be... enchanté. I mean to say that as in 'heavily romantic' and not 'intimate!'
