A Race Against Time
6 hours to go.
On a new day, Jesse was woken by the new breeze laced with the richness of chocolate. He turned to notice that Lukas was already up and carving the chocolate slabs into neat shapes with his pocket knife. Jesse shrugged at him. "What? You don't actually plan to give them a slab of jagged chocolate and view that as romantic?" to which Jesse responded "Guess you got a point. Anyway, time we get heading back home eh? We don't wanna miss anything tonight!"
Lukas nodded approvingly. "Hopefully I wouldn't wake up on the hill with any lip-shaped maquillage stains on my face, as per usual..." Jesse concurred, "Or at least, any clumsy smears on my face. I remember you humorously saying that Petra smeared her lipstick on my face. Question is how was such a thing possible when we were both asleep?" Lukas held in a chuckle, "I think she accidentally did that whilst you two were... um um... having a moment. hehehe...",
Jesse would stay and keep cracking puns, but he knew they had to get going. They tore off some chocolate from the walls as a replenished food supply, and began the journey home. "Why does it taste so much better in the day?" Lukas shrugged, but his mind then turned blank, before wandering off to his happy place where he could be with his sweet heartstring puller. Bliss...
The weather had not worsened for almost 2 hours when the clouds had suddenly tinted to a foreboding grey and rumbles in the air can be heard. "Uh-oh. Looks like we gotta hurry back like right now!" Jesse said in worry. "Yeah! Let's MOVE!" Lukas said back with serenity in his voice. The two began to enter a brief jogging pace before legging it to home. The Emerald Forest was only 15 minutes away, but the weather had worsened in 5. What was a dire rumble had now become a life-threatening lightning storm.
"Hurry up, Jesse! The Forest boundary is where all this crap ends!" As part of nature's apparently governed laws, the East End of the world has its own weather separated from West, so the dire dire rainfall and downpour will all stop when they cross the boundary that is the Final Frontier. And Jesse and Lukas were about to cross it. "Hurry! There isn't much time! The boundary is just ahead!" And Lukas was right tl his word, he was the first to cross from dreadful downpour to a suburban sunlight, and Jesse followed, drenched in dew, but fine. Thankfully the roses hadn't tarnished. "Matter of fact, the roses look even redder than before!" Lukas observed when inspecting his rose.
The Emerald Forest glimmered in the sunlight, the leaves simmered like emeralds and they swayed gently in the gentle breeze. They were relieved to have finally returned home. Not only had they secured their girlfriends' gifts, but also ensured that the night doesn't go awry in any way. "C'mon Jesse. Let's get dry before we meet the girls for tonight." Jesse humorously nudged Lukas' shoulder and flicked his eyebrows. "Pfft. Grow up! And shut up too! Mmnh?" whilst pointing at you, to which Jesse muttered "Oh! You, sorry." while snickering.
