Ever since his departure, Lukas had been increasingly filled with dismay of his decision. "But I know it's for the best. If our relationship is to live on, there cannot be... anything that can potentially kill it. I love Jesse, but if she feels even mildly discomforted by my advances, I must give her time to collect herself." He kept reassuring himself that this was for the greater good. "It may damage our foundation, but we'll still be together. That's all that matters..."
Lukas did have regrets on his departure, including where he will travel to think and when he should return. "Apparently there's this place I could go to... think. A place free of any stress, a place I can go where I could be alone."Sadly that place was his conscience, and he could not find it, his poor judgement of the situation meant his conscience was like the John 'O Groats of Lands End (southwest-northernmost points). Little did he know Jesse was not at all discomforted by Lukas' advances and now, she's suffering because of his actions. Breathing in the air, Lukas stared into the path ahead, and turned back to the direction of town, he thought.
Jesse, I know you cannot hear me, but hear me out. I love you, and I want our relationship to blossom and bloom. I do not want tensions to break our bonds, and I can understand my advances can discomfort you. Know that from the bottom of my heart that I am deeply sorry, and hope that between us can be a much more wonderful place. If I must lay off for some time because our relationship at risk of dying, I will gladly do so with dignity, with courage, with strength. For YOU. Until then, goodbye for now...
Lukas' eye shed a solitary crystalline tear before he turned and continued. He will be travelling for some time, and he will return soon. We'll be checking on him regularly as well as Jesse, who must be really broken by now.
Lukas, take care in your travels, and be safe and keep Jesse in your heart, and in your mind... and STOP MONOLOGUING!
