Interlude - Matches made in Heaven

Jesse and Lukas were still laughing as the night progressed. The marble moon was expected to come to its closest proximity to Earth in 10,000 years, and that was correct. Only every 10,000 years would the moon be so near to Earth, it would be a towering spotlight glimmering above them. With only their love between them, they grew even closer than ever.

"I love every second we have here. Just you and me, nothing to distract us. Isn't it beautiful?" Jesse said to a stunned Lukas. "Yes… The moon is so close, that its radiant light would make a fantastic light. I too love every second I spend with you. I couldn't help but only fall in love with you much more every second." Jesse turned to him, she was so moved by these lines, she lost herself in Lukas' sea-blue eyes as she kissed him again.

But this kiss was special to them. It was the first time they ever truly felt loved, apart from that, it was also their first one truly out of newfound love for each other. After moments of true bliss, they broke apart. Lukas looked forlorn. "What's wrong?" She let him think for a while before he then said "Jesse. I wanted to say that, I can't stop blaming myself for failing you." Jesse was confused, "I don't understand. You never failed me. Ever." But she was wrong.

"Remember when you had to rescue either Gabriel or Petra? You called for help, but... but I couldn't. I was too scared. I felt so bad, that after all this was over, I felt it was right that I isolate myself, which I felt I deserved for my deliberate failure. And, Jesse. I'm so deeply sorry, from the bottom of my heart. If I could do anything so it never happens again, it's probably too late. I hope you can forgive me."

But Jesse only smiled and said "Of course I forgive you. I meant that to be true. I fully understood why you couldn't help me, and I found that a contributing factor to why you're so cute. And no, it's not too late to change." These words of hope made Lukas feel much better. "You really mean that?" to which Jesse couldn't nod no. He was so happy, he was relieved to hear that Jesse wasn't upset. "Thank you. And another thing. There's something I've been wanting to say to you all night." Jesse grew too close for Lukas to be comfortable, "And that thing is?"

Lukas grew red as he stuttered to say his words "I... I er... I lo... I... I lov..." before calmly saying "I love you, Jesse. I always have." Jesse gasped, she had never been so happy to have been told that. She grew so happy that she wasn't sure she could take any more. She simply smiled and blushed to a great red. "Really?" she whispered. Lukas smiled and teasingly said "Would this pretty face lie to you?" Jesse was amazed to hear such words of true endearment. "That's another reason why I think you're so irresistible. You whisper such adorable things to me. I love you too."

Lukas was so filled with cheer, he could hold it in any longer. Without any response, he grew near Jesse, and the couple kissed again. It was just then that the fireworks display had begun when this moment began. The moment lasted until Jesse could take it no longer. She had grown tired of all this romance, she fell asleep on Lukas' lap. The day was over for Lukas, yet he didn't sleep for another 45 minutes. He looked down at Jesse, fast asleep like a baby animal. Until he did fall asleep, he stroked her soft hair whilst glaring into the moonlight and alternatively listening to Jesse's breathing. He murmured "Simply blissful…" before planting a kiss on her forehead. You're so cute when you sleep, you remind me of my dog Freddy, until he left me. Only then did he fall asleep beside his gleaming partner while clutching her warm hand.

It brings such happiness to my heart to hear you breathe...

Petra had finished dragging Jesse when they reached the place she wanted to go. To their surprise, they saw Jesse and Lukas, asleep on the hill. "Meh, leave them. I guess they fell asleep after all this craziness tonight." Jesse suggested. They suddenly began to spin round and round viciously until Jesse stumbled onto the ground laughing, and Petra onto him, also laughing.

"So why did you hide yourself from others? Why did you keep your nice girl you hidden inside your tough-nut shell?" Petra was silent for a while before answering "I didn't want people to see me as a girl. They might laugh at me. But when you saw that I was really more of a sweetheart, I saw it was fine to be like that. I'm sorry I hid that side of me away from you for so long."

Jesse flung an arm around Petra's shoulder and dragged himself nearer to her. "It's OK. After all, it's what makes you so wonderful. You're too shy to show your true personality to the world, and I couldn't resist that. It's part of what I love about you." Petra chuckled "Please stop. Your cute-boy talk is scaring me." Jesse found this odd, "Me? Scare you? Look into these eyes. Do these eyes look to scare people? I'm sorry but I can't help it. I love you too much."

Petra could only laugh. "Aw, you big sap, come here." She grabbed his shirt and dragged him close enough so she could kiss him. It was at that moment that they were lost in their own world, all they could think about is each other. The moment lasted until Jesse broke it. He said "You're unbelievable. You leave me breathless, and, I love you... so much" before falling asleep and resting his head on the soft blades of grass beneath.

Petra thought Jesse looked like a cute little baby and his mother was watching him. "Sleep tight, lovey. I feel the same towards you. I love you too." She planted a kiss on his cheek before she fell asleep beside him. Two couples have been married in heaven's eyes. Two blossoming young couples are coming to Earth...
