Italics are memories
"But uncle, why can't I stay with you, grandfather and grandma? I don't know anyone here." You looked up at your uncle with pleading eyes, hoping that maybe, just maybe he would take you back to Asgard with him, but deep down you knew it would be of no use.
"Your father has become a danger to all of us, including you little one. There is no telling what horrors he would unleash upon you" he said as you two had just about reached your destination.
"But daddy fell off the bridge..." You gave your uncle a confused look, you didn't understand why he was talking about him like he was still here, he feel off the bridge after your uncle had distorted the bifrost to save jotunheim. Heimdal had to use as much dark magic as possible just to bring you here, it would be so long before the Biofrost could be fixed, you knew you would be here for awhile.
"We can never tell for sure y/n, your father is a trickster, this would top all the the mischief he's caused throughout his life. I can only hope that you do not fall to the same fate. I will return for you, but until we know the truth, you are to stay here" Thor told you, regret in his eyes as he looked down at you, fighting the urge to turn back, but he had already knocked on Abraham's door.A small home in Queens, and you were greeted at the door by Abraham, the man who would be taking care of you for the time being. After saying your goodbyes to your uncle Thor, you know it would be better to at least try and make the best of things rather than wallow in self pity, so the two of you began to get to know each other.
A year later you were still living in the care of Abraham, he was a great man, truly. He cared for you as if you were his own daughter, and he was smart as well. Unfortunately his knowledge was put to the test when performing the first human experimentation on a man named Johann Shmidt. After the experiment had gone terrible wrong, Shmidt had become furious and power hungry. You were frozen in place as you watched the whole thing happen, unfortunately for your sake, Shmidt took notice of this and took long , quick strides towards where you were standing. Paralyzed with fear you did the only thing you knew to do when you felt threatened, use your magic. Your mind had moved objects from around the room in front of you to create a barrier between the two of you as the lights flickered as a blue mist formed around you. Rather than turning away and running, Johann decided to draw you out by threatening the one person you had in this world, Abraham.
"Come out of their liebchen, come out willingly or I will kill him and drag you out myself!!" Shmidt spat at you. You looked into Abrahams eyes, they were pleading for you to run but you couldn't let him suffer for you, despite all the voices screaming to stay put, you climbed over the objects in front of you and stood before Shmidt. He threw Abraham to the floor and his eyes roamed over your child like form as he circled around you. He grabbed your arm and you screamed in pain, "You're coming with me, I need you to help me find something that you know of, and once it's found you will become a slave and a weapon to hydra, now let's be on our way shall we?" And with that, he had already injected you with a sedative that was to be used on him earlier, and the rest is history.
You didn't want to open your eyes, but you couldn't relive this nightmare again. Listening to your surrounding you could tell you were in the lab, but you heard more voices than usual, along with a second heart monitor. Curiosity finally getting the best of you, your eyes slowly opened and you began to look around. Nothing too out of the ordinary from your life here, tied to a metal examining table and an array of needles and serums on the tray beside you. As your vision became more focused, you looked to the other side of the room and saw something you had never seen before. Another person that wasn't already involvedHydra, the one from the hallway, the one with only one arm.
He was starting to stir, which meant he was also getting ready to awaken. There was something shining on the other side of his table, something that you hadn't seen before. As he awoke, he looked confused as his eyes scanned the room. He looked forward for a moment , then to his left. He lifted his arm to reveal a metal appendage. You could only assume he wasn't to happy with it, because the first thing he used it for was to choke out the scientist that gave him the arm in the first place. This caught the attention of a face that you were all too familiar with, Dr. Zola. He rushed over to the man, "Sargent Barns, you are to be the new face of Hydra." One sentence was all it took for you to feel heart broken for the man who most likely was fighting agents Hydra in the first place, judging by his uniform. The man said nothing, only glared at Zola. "Send them to the cell, there will be more experiments tomorrow, for now, let the fools get acquainted." Just like that, you two were back in your cell, all of this was so new, no one had every stayed in this cell with you. Sure guards came to beat you or feed you every now and again, but no one has ever shared this cell with you. You dared to think that you would finally have a companion in this hell hole.
You weren't sure how to start a conversation with this man, you weren't even sure if he was safe, but even if he wasn't would it truly matter? Anyone would be better than Hydra. "How old are you kid?" The man asked breaking you from your thoughts.
You thought about it for a second before answering, "they told me I'm twelve."
He gave you a surprised look and then spoke again, "twelve, huh? Why are you
here, this can't possibly be safe for you, we need to get you out of here". Hope, hope is something you haven't felt in years, but that hope was short lived when you remembered your last attempt to escape."I've been trying to leave for years, they always catch me. Always. There's no way to escape Hydra, not if you have something they want." You told him, bringing your knees to your chest.
This caught the mans attention, "what could someone as young as you have that they want bad enough to keep you here?" With that question you thought it would be better to show him, rather than explain yourself. Slowly he started lifting off the ground, along with all the other objects in the room, you made sure that only the lights in your cell flickered so the guards would not come rushing in. The blue mist began to appear and your eyes were glowing, you started lifting yourself off the ground as well and forming more versions of yourself throughout the room. When you closed your eyes you gently lowered everything again so that there wouldn't be too much noise, and you wouldn't hurt the man. When your eyes opened again the he was staring at you, but for some reason didn't seem to phased by what you had just done. You could only assume he'd seen so much that he may have even expected more. "I see your point doll... So how long have you been stuck here?"
It almost pained you to answer, "four years, they've taken everything from me". A small tear rolled down your cheek, for four long years you've been alone in this hell, and now that you finally had someone who you could only hope to be a friend, all your emotions got the best of you.
The man noticed your silent tears and decided to take action, he was also afraid and couldn't imagine how afraid you had been all those years alone, especially at such a young age. He crouched down in front of you and wiped your tears away and brushed your hair out of your face, after he sat down beside you and put his human arm around your shoulder to bring you closer to him so you could lean into him. "Hey, hey, come on doll, don't cry. I'm here for you now. I know we don't know each other, but one thing I'm sure of is that we both want to get out of here right?" You silently nodded, too upset to speak anymore. "We will find a way to get out of here okay kid? I promise. We will make it out of this okay?" With that you looked up at him with hopeful eyes, maybe, just maybe you two really could escape. "My name is Bucky by the way, what's yours?" He asked as he gave a small sad smile.
"I'm y/n."
