It's been about a year since the battle of New York, you and Steve had been working on small missions and living together in Washington DC, after the both of you realized you didn't want to be alone anymore. Being able to be so close to one another, to be able to be wrapped in each others arms at night, to wake up every morning to the sound of a steady heart beat and breathing next to you, it all helped calm the two of you. It helped keep the horrors and nightmares away of all the things the both of you had endured throughout your lives.

Steve told you stories of his life in the fourties and the war, he even told you about Peggy and Bucky, and how much they meant to him. In return you told him stories about your childhood, what it was like having Loki as a father and Thor as your uncle. You told him about your time with Abraham after Thor had left you here with him. You even told him about your time with Hydra, but the one story you always avoided telling him was how you managed to escape. You knew it would only hurt him if he knew Bucky had still been alive after his fall. By this time you could only assume he was dead now as well, and it broke your heart to think that. You truly felt like it was your fault Bucky didn't escape that day, but you knew he would tell you otherwise, that didn't mean it stopped the pain though.

This morning you woke up feeling rather different. You woke up as you normally did, wrapped in Steve's arms as you watched his chest slowly rise and fall. You always noticed how peaceful he looked when he was sleeping, he was completely relaxed and it somehow made you feel slightly more at ease. "You're staring again." Steve whispered to you, eyes still closed as he pulled you a bit closer to him. You hadn't realized how long you had been staring, but you wouldn't deny that it was long enough to catch his notice.

"How do you always know when I'm staring if you don't even open your eyes?" You whispered back, attempting to hold back a laugh but failing miserably, causing Steve to laugh as well.

"Would you believe me if I said I had X-Ray vision?" He joked with you.

You decided it might be fun to play along with his joke, and hoped it might even get rid of the strange feeling you had. "Is that why you were blushing so much the first time you met me?" You asked him with a smirk. This caused his eyes to shoot open, and a blush to creep up on his face as he looked down at you in his arms as he struggled to speak now. You stopped his stuttering by bringing one of your fingers up to his lips and shushed him. "I was just joking Steve." You told him as you started to laugh at his response to it.

Steve let out a relived sigh once he realized it was a joke. He pulled you closed again, lifting your chin up so you were face to face with him, and gave you your good morning kiss. When he pulled away he had a small smirk playing upon his lips. "One minute." He told you as he turned around and went to reach for something out of his bed side drawer.

Your curiosity began to get the best of you, so you decided you'd try to sneak a peak at what he was looking for. He must have noticed because as soon as you got close enough to be able to catch a glimpse of what he was looking for, his hand moved back and covered your eyes quickly. "Damn super soldier reflexes." You joked as the both of you laughed. "What are you looking for?" You asked him, beginning to grow impatient.

"You'll see in a second, I just have to..." He paused for a second before shouting "found them!" He finished, and you jumped at the sudden change in the volume of his voice. It was still morning after all, there wasn't any reason to yell. He took his hand off of your eyes and hid what he found behind his back, giving you a shy nervous smile, much like the one he gave you when the two of you first met.

"Steve, what are you hiding?" You asked him, trying to hold back another laugh as you tried to peak behind him once again. Once again being stopped when he turned his body to avoid you being able to look behind him.
