Sitting across from the one and only Captain America could make anyone nervous, but you couldn't risk being nervous right now. Recently when your body felt this way, you weren't able to control your powers, which is why you've been living such a low profile life. There were so many questions you wanted to ask him, questions that even he probably didn't know the answer to. You were certain he thought Bucky was still dead, and you weren't sure if bringing him up would be a good idea. You wanted to ask him about Abraham. You wanted to ask how he defeated Shmidt. If he knew that Hydra still existed after his death.

Your thoughts came to an end when your orders were brought to the table. You almost forgot Steve was even there, he was so quiet, he must have been as nervous as you. You noticed that he was drawing something, he looked up for a moment and then glanced back down continuing to sketch. You looked behind you and realized he was created lovely a sketch of the building behind you. "That looks amazing."

His body jumped slightly at the sound of your voice, no one had spoken for about five minutes, so he was surprised to hear you talk. He looked at you and smiled, "thanks, I uh, I like to sketch sometimes." He said while scratching the back of his neck and letting out a nervous laugh.

"Well it looks great." You complimented with a smile. He began to drink is coffee and took a bite of his food. You took a deep breath before beginning to speak again. "Must have felt weird when you woke up huh? I can't imagine what you felt, what you're still feeling."

He looked at you confused for a moment as to why you would know that, then he remembered it was all over the news. He leaned back in his chair and let out a heavy sigh. "It's defiantly different. When I woke up they told me we won, they didn't tell me what we lost. I lost so many people, everyone really. I'm not exactly sure what to do with myself anymore to be honest. It's such a different world then what I'm used to." He looked up at you and noticed you were listening intently, rather than looking bored of his rambling. He gave you a small smile before returning to his sketch, when you looked closer at it you realized he added you in the drawing as well. A smile spread across your face as you noticed how focused he was, how he wanted to get every detail perfect. You were flattered. When he saw you looking at the sketch he quickly closed the book. "Sorry, I just... I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable-"

"I love it, no need to be sorry." You said, cutting him off before he continued spilling out apologies. You grabbed his pen and a napkin and began to write down your number, then placed it in his shirt pocket and gave it a light pat, "if you ever need anyone to talk about all of this with, give me a call. I'd be more than happy to help, or even listen to your stories if that's all you need." You offered. He gave you a smile once again and felt relieved that he hadn't scared you off.

The two of you continued making small talk, well past the time the bill had come, you guys were even asked to leave so they could seat some more people. As you two began to walk down the street, you continued to talk until you had reached Steve's motorcycle. He looked down at you and smiled while nervously scratching the back of his neck once again, "I could give you a ride to your place if you want? Or wherever you need to go?"

The offer was tempting, but you needed to learn more about him first. Being seen walking into an apartment complex with Captain America isn't exactly the way to keep a low profile. "Thank you, but I have a few errands I need to run before I go home today." You looked up at him, he looked slightly disappointed. You decided to reach up and give him a small kiss on the cheek, when you pulled away you patted his shirt pocket once again, "don't forget to call me, Cap." you said with a smirk and a wink.

Steve had a light blush appearing on his face, he pulled your number out of his pocket and began unfolding it, "thanks, I'll call you tonight miss..." He hadn't gotten your name, something he desperately wanted. "Hey you weren't even wearing a name tag" he laughed. "What do I call you?" He asked with a bigger smile than before and laughing just a bit more.

Your smile grew and you darted your eyes up and to the right to pretend you were thinking, you never really gave out your name, you never wanted Hydra to find you again. "Just call me coffee girl." You answered with a another wink, "see you later Steve, I'm looking forward to hearing from you tonight." You said as you began to slowly walk away.

He shook his head and laughed at your answer, but he would take it. "See you later coffee girl." He replied sweetly. With that, the two of you departed.

As you began running your errands you couldn't help but feel uneasy, like someone was watching your every move. It didn't matter where your went, the store, the bank, or shops, you still felt another presence following you. Anytime you looked over your shoulder, you came out empty, a new face every time or no one at all. At this point you figured you were just being paranoid. You knew how to defend yourself if anyone tried anything, you weren't twelve anymore, you had been taking care of yourself for years, and if anyone needed to be afraid it should be your attacker.

Once you had finished your shopping you walked back to your apartment. The feeling from before was gone. The sun had was going to set soon, so you decided you'd make a quick stop at the roof and enjoy the scenery. After the sun had set and the moon was high in the sky, you decided it would be best to go to your apartment and make yourself some dinner.

As you made your way inside, you began putting away all your items and turned the oven on. You bought a frozen pizza and decided that would do the trick for tonight's dinner. The pizza needed about thirty minutes to cook, so you decided to take a quick shower. When you finished, you started getting dressed in your room. You had just finished putting on your sweater when the oven timer went off. You smiled to yourself and walked to your bedroom door, but stopped in your tracks when you heard the timer being clicked off and the contents of the oven were taken out and placed on the stove. Someone was in your apartment.

Even though you could take care of yourself, you were still scared. How did they get in here? Was this the person following you all day? Had Hydra finally found you? You slowly opened the room to your bedroom to make your way to the living room to grab a bat. Inching your way toward the kitchen you noticed your intruder was tall, bald, and... Helping himself to your pizza.

"I see you met Steve today, that's good. He needed to get back out in the world." The man stated simply. He took another slice of the pizza, "this is pretty good, you're lucky I was here, another minute and it would have started to burn."

You looked at him confused, this man obviously wasn't a threat, but what was he doing here. "I was about to leave the room to take it out of the oven, until I heard you taking care of it. How did you get in here?" You asked looking around for any broken windows.

"Through the front door of course." He told you nonchalantly, like there wasn't an issue.

"Why are you here?" You asked him.

He turned around, "I'm here with an offer, a proposition." The man stated, turning around to reveal an eyepatch.

"Who are you?"

He smiled, "Nick Fury, and you're y/n. We know a lot about you, we've been watching over you for years, even helped keep some interested parties off your back. But now we need your help, I need you to come with me if you don't mind."

"Why? So I can live my life as a lab rat again?" You fought back

"Not at all Y/n, we want your help, protecting the world. And in return, you will always have our full protection." He stated.

"What makes you think I can't protect myself?" You asked, getting slightly annoyed.

Nick let out a heavy sigh before answering. "Tell me y/n, did you know that Hydra always knew you were in Brooklyn, and made many attempts to capture you again? Did you know they've made at least one hundred attempts to find you here? Or how about the fact they they were even going to send an assassin to come and bring you to them, dead or alive?" He asked, you stayed silent as your face softened, you shook your head in reply, you never knew any of this. "That's because Shield has been keeping track of all that for you. We're nothing like hydra I can assure you, but we do need your help, and very soon you're going to need ours." He finished telling you.

"What do you need me to do?"

"At the moment, I only need to talk to you."

"About what?" You asked

He paused and smirked before answering, "the Avengers Initiative."
