After Loki had escaped with you, after Thor had fallen from the sky, after the Hulk escaped, after the hellicarrier was fixed, after all the dust had began to settle, Steve and Tony sat in the conference area together in silence. Nick walked in with Maria, both of them looking just as defeated as the two Avengers.

"These were found in Coulson's jacket." Nick said and he tossed some blood stained Captain America training cards over to Steve, he lifted on of the cards to examine it, only to trow it back to the table upset with himself. "Guess he never did get you to sign them." Nick spoke up once again. "We're dead in the air up here. Our communications, the location of the Cube, Banner, Thor... I got nothing for you. I lost my one good eye. Maybe I had that coming." He paused again walking between the two.

"Yes. We were going to build an arsenal with the Tesseract. I never put all my chips on that number though, because I was playing something even riskier... There was an idea, Stark knows this, called the Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of of remarkable people to see if they could become something more. To see if they could work together when we needed them to, to fight the battles that we never could. Phil Coulson died, still believing in that idea. In heroes." Just as Nick as said that, Tony stood up, still for a moment, as if he was about to give a speech of his own, but ended up leaving. "Well, it's a good old-fashioned notion."

"What did you really need y/n for?" Steve asked, still upset that he didn't try to help rescue you, that he was stuck helping Tony instead. He was falling for you and falling hard, he already didn't want to know what his life would be like if he hadn't met you. He wished you were still here, but he was going to make sure that you were found along with Loki.

Nick let out a heavy sigh, "I already explained this, we wanted to protect her." He said as if it wasn't already obvious.

"She wasn't exactly the one that looked like she needed to be protected." Steve replied, he witnessed most of what had happened with you, though he left before you had attacked the others.

"Do you really believe that was her in control of her actions Rogers? Because I know for a fact that her father got inside her head and caused everything that happened." Nick paused while he waited for what he told Steve to sink in, "there will always be threatening people after her, even if she doesn't want to believe it. She's everyone's target, some groups will stop at nothing to have her. Dead or alive." He finished as he walked out of the room, leaving Steve alone with his thoughts.

He knew groups like Shield and Hydra were probably always watching you without you even knowing. He never thought there was more than that to worry about though, least of all your own father. He knew he needed to help rescue you, even if you could escape on your own, he didn't want you to be alone when this was all over. He made his way toward the room that contained Loki's cell just about an hour ago to see if he could find any clue as to where you went, or what was about to happen. As he walked through the doors he was met by Tony, staring at the wall that still had some of Coulson's blood on it. The two stayed there in silence for a moment until tony decided to speak up.

"He made it personal." Tony said, almost in shock.

"Why would he do that?" Steve asked as he continued to look around for any clue you might have left him, but he continued to come out empty handed, until he noticed a necklace on the ground, without thinking or even giving it a good look, he put it in his pocket. He knew the odds were that it was yours, and if it was the only thing that he would have left of you, he would take good care of it.

"Loki is a full scale diva, he wants to put on a show, he wants everyone watching, he wants his name in... Lights..." Tony paused, realization hitting him. Steve looked back over, not sure where he was going with this. "Son of a bitch." Tony cursed.
