"Hello Steve." You said nervously.
"What are you doing here? I thought you said you were going on vacation?" He asked, seeming a little hurt feeling like you've already lied to him.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't sure if I could tell anyone about this and I didn't want you to worry and..." You responded, words spilling out before you even had a chance to think them over. Then the same question made its way to your mind. "Wait, what are you doing here?" You threw back at him.
"Fury called me in, something about the Avengers Initiative, but you still didn't answer the question. What are you doing here?" He asked once again.
Just as you were about to answer, Coulson came up to the two of you, most likely to tell you to come inside to see if you had any idea where either the tesseract or Loki could be once again. "Ah, y/n! I see you've already ran into Steve." He went to shake Steve's hand, and you could have sworn you heard him swoon. They spoke for a moment about what he could expect from this mission, you tried not to listen in on their conversation. A couple minutes went by until Coulson returned back to you. "Y/n, we set up a room for you here. It's not big but it'll do for now and we can better protect you here. Hopefully we won't need to bring you in for what's to come, but if we do, will you be ready?" He asked with concern written all over his face.
"If it comes to that, then yes, I'll be ready." You replied with little emotion, your eyes landing on Steve once again.
"Thank you, now if you'll come with me I can continue showing you around."
"Just give me a moment, please?" You asked, looking between him and Steve.
"Yes, of course. I'll just be over here when you're ready." He replied, getting the hint that he had interrupted the two of you earlier.
The tension between you two could be cut with a knife, it made you incredibly uneasy. You weren't sure how to start a conversation with Steve now, luckily he started it for you. "So, y/n huh?" He paused for a second "Well at least I finally got a name." He nervously laughed, but still looked slightly hurt.
You smiled and shook your head, "I really am sorry Steve, I didn't mean to make you feel like I've already lied to you." You gave him an apologetic look before finally answering his question, "I'm here for my own protection, as well as helping all of you out if it comes down to that." This caught his attention quickly, what would you need to be protected from? You knew he was going to ask so you decided to show him why. You hadn't used your powers in a long time, but they had become so much stronger from their last use. Your eyes began to glow blue and the ever so familiar mist began to form. You lifted Steve from the ground, as well as the jets the two of you arrived in, and then slowly lowered him back to the ground. He stood there in shock so you decided to explain, "we have more in common then you think Steve, I've been around just as long as you have. I have something groups like Hydra want and will stop at nothing to have, even Loki would use this power to his advantage. That is why I'm here, to stop anything before it can begin." You stated, nervous of what he may think or say.
He looked into your eyes and saw the your fear in them, he knew some of it was because you were waiting for his reaction. He slowly inched his way toward you, once he was right in front of you, he reached for your hand. At first you flinched at his movement, but when he gave you a small smile you knew he wasn't against any of this. He grabbed your other hand and ran his thumbs over the tops of them, "you're different." He started, you looked up slightly hurt until you noticed his smile grow a bit, you decided to let him finish. "But it's a good different. Nothing I can't get used to after a little time, coffee girl." He said as he gave your knuckle a quick kiss before releasing your hands.
