While Loki was being chained up for his trip with Thor back to Asgard, you sat with Steve in another room. The entire team had gotten cleaned up and were now trying to relax before seeing Thor and Loki leave. Steve had his arm around you as you leaned into him, fighting to stay awake now. Not much had been said between everyone yet, the group had gone out to get shawarma before coming here, you just assumed all the food was making you all tired. You subconsciously reached for Bucky's dog tag that was always around your neck, but began to panic when it wasn't there. "No no no." You said quietly as you shot up and began digging through your pockets. This all quickly caught Steve's attention.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked concerned. "What are you looking for?"
"My necklace! I can't find it! Where could it have gone?" You asked him frantically as you continued your search around the room.
Steve suddenly remembered that he had it, "hold on." He told you as he ran to the other room, and returned in no time at all with a chain in his hand. "Is it this one?" He asked, showing you the dog tag without even looking at the name on it yet.
"Oh my god! Thank you Steve!" You said as you quickly grabbed it and put it back around your neck. Suddenly you remembered you still hadn't told him about you knowing Bucky. You quickly hid the tag inside your shirt so Steve wouldn't see the name, but the fact that he was in the army meant he knew it was a tag already.
"Did you lose someone?" He asked, feeling slightly upset that he hadn't noticed what it was from the beginning.
You stayed silent for a moment, not sure how to respond. Finally you replied "yes." so quietly that you weren't sure he even heard.
"Who?" He asked curiously. You were frozen now, you weren't sure if you should give him the truth or not. You didn't like lying to him, but you weren't sure how this would all effect him. Suddenly you were saved from answering the question when someone burst through the doors.
"Y/n, may I have a moment alone with you, please?" Thor asked as he looked between you and Steve. Steve took the hint and left the room after waving to the two of you. Once he left, Thor turned all his attention back to you. "I'm so proud of you." he started, catching your full attention now. "Not just for today, I'm proud of you for making your own life on this planet all these years and growing to become the woman you are now. I should have never left you here alone, but at the time it seemed like the safest place for you. I'm sorry for all the horrors you had to endure here. Including fighting your own father, I know it was not easy, but this world is now in your debt because of it, and they will thank you." He told you.
The mood in the room had suddenly become emotional, you're father and uncle have both changed, but at least Thor had changed for the better. You knew he was meant to be the rightful king of Asgard now. "I've missed you so much uncle." You whispered to him as the two of you hugged.
"I've missed you too, little one." he replied as he began to pull away, "which is why I have a proposition for you. I will be returning to Asgard with Loki, if you would like, I can finally bring you back home as well. The choice is yours, what do you say?" He asked hopefully.
For years and years the only thing you thought about was going back home, back to Asgard. But after today you realized that Asgard was something you were no longer familiar with. You'd spent your life here, almost all of it, earth was your new home and the Avengers were your new family. Loki was still your father regardless and Thor your uncle, but you would feel out of place if you went back to Asgard. After seventy years, the only people that could still possibly remember you besides Thor and Loki would be Odin, Frigga and the Warriors. Even with them, it still wouldn't feel like home anymore. Your father was now lost and would not allow your help, your uncle would soon be the new king, your grandparents would most likely be gone soon, and the Warriors have lives of their own to live, you would only feel alone in a land surrounded my many. You looked out the window of the room to see Steve and the rest of the team, even after only three days, this team had become a family and you still had a date to look forward to with Steve. "Going back home used to be such a huge dream to me." You started as you turned back to Thor, "but Asgard is no longer my home, I'm not sure if it ever really was. Earth is my home now, and this team is my family." Thor looked at you with his eyes slightly glossed over, he wanted you to come home so badly, but he knew you were right. "I still love you and everyone else, but I don't belong there. I belong here on Earth. You can understand that, can't you?" You asked him nervously.
