The jet had fallen from the sky after Loki had shot it down, the war was about to begin. Tony lowered you to the ground to meet up with the rest of the group that had made it so far. Steve knew Tony had managed to get you back, but that was all he knew. It scared him to think that anything might have happened to you. As soon as your feet touched the ground, Steve made is way to your side. His eyes roamed over your body, checking for any sign of an injury. "Are you okay y/n? He didn't hurt you did he?" He asked, almost panicked.

You grabbed his face to make him look you in the eye, since he couldn't stop checking for injuries. "Steve, I'm fine." You told him with a small reassuring smile. That smile quickly faded when you heard the war cries of the chittarri. All of you looked up to Stark tower to finally see the portal Loki was talking about.

"Right, army." Tony said as he began to fly up and shoot down whatever creatures he could. "I'll take care of as many as I can up here, you guys take care of the ones that make it to the city." He said over all the coms.

A few of them made the unfortunate mistake of crossing your path and shooting at you and Steve. Your eyes instantly turned blue and you began to form your familiar mist. You had managed to destroy their minds making them scream out in pain and killing them instantly as you threw them to the ground, stealing their transporters in the process and hopping right on. The rest of the team looked at you completely shocked. "What?" You asked, confused at their shock, you had almost destroyed them only hours ago, that shouldn't have been much of a shock.

The team all shook their heads and continued on fighting the army. All except for Steve who made his way over to you. "You know how to fly one of those?" He asked you.

"How hard could it be, Cap? Hop on, I could use a co-pilot with a shield." You told him with a smirk. You looked up once again to see that more of the chittarri were coming, "come on Steve, we don't have all day." You said, trying to get him to speed up his decision. It must have worked because he instantly jumped up with you. He held onto your shoulder to help keep balanced as you slowly lifted from the ground.

"You've done this before right?" He asked you, seeming slightly scared of what your answer might be.

"First time, try not to be too scared." He could hear the smirk in your voice. When you took off to fly toward the army that was coming your way, Steve gripped your shoulder just a bit tighter and got his shield ready. You shot down as many as you could, and used your mist to jam their weapons so the ones that passed you wouldn't be able to fight Clint and Natasha too easily. Once you flew closer to the tower, one of the letters came crashing down. "Shit!" You cursed to yourself as you turned just before it could hit you, almost falling off in the process. You noticed Steve's grip tightened on you a bit.

"Y/n! We need to go back and form a better plan!" He yelled, hoping you'd hear him over all the chaos.

"Already on it!" You shouted back as you turned around back to Clint and Natasha.

"Stark, are you seeing this?" Steve said over the coms as he watched more and more aliens come from the portal.

"Seeing, still working on believing. Where's Banner, has he shown up yet?" Tony asked.

"Banner?" You asked, you hadn't seen him with the group, you assumed he had left.

"Just keep me posted." Tony said, ending your conversation.

You and Steve noticed there were civilians being trapped inside buildings. "Y/n, stop by the police. We can help them set up a plan too!" Steve told you. You flew right above a group of officers and dropped Steve off on one of the cars. "You need men in these buildings. There are people inside and they're going to be running right into the line of fire. You take them to the basements, or through the subway. You keep them off the streets. I need a perimeter as far back as thirty ninth street!" Steve shouted to the officer as you hovered above all of them, waiting for any attackers to come your way.
