Chapter 18- a brand new family?

Ethans POV
"Remember all his corny jokes?" Ever asked me. "Yeah. Dad sure did have an odd sense of humor," i laughed. "I wish he was still here to cook for us-" ever said almost sadly. "I wish he was still here to help me with math!" I said jokingly. This made her laugh, "you could always ask jellal like the other guys do," she told me. "Yeah but its different. Hes not a father figure," i said. She lookked in thought for a moment before answering, "what about igneel?" "What about him?" I asked. "Well hes a father figure. Im sure he could help you with math," she told me. I thought for a moment, 'have igneel help me? Igneel, a father figure?' "Hes a fatherly figure," ever said while scrubbing the pot. "Yeah i guess so," i responded. "So do you mind if invite igneel and natsu to thanksgiving dinner?" Ever asked me. I thought for a moment, "i guess. I can invite mira, lisanna and elfman," i told her. She nodded, "okay, that sounds like fun!" She said. "We should do a polyanna with everyone at school, this year," ever said. "Why? We could just buy gifts for people," i told her. She shrugged, "yeah i guess so. I would like to buy everyone a gift," she admitted. "Alright than well do that," i said. "So are we buying separate gifts?" She asked. "What do you mean?" I asked as i put the plates away. "Well i want to buy natsu a gift and i dont want to put your name on it. But ill put your name on juvias gift if youd like," she told me. Oh okay. "Oh! I get what you mean. We can buy the gifts together, i guess." I told her. "Awesome! Natsu and you will be the only people whos gifts you have nothing to do with," she told me. I laughed, "i hope i dont have anything to do with my gift," i said. We finished doing the dishes and sat on the couch. "So how do you feel about meeting miras father this friday?" She asked me. I gulped, "honestly, a little worried," i admitted. 'More like alot really,' "aw dont be. Im sure itll be fine. What could go wrong?" She asked. "What could go wrong?! Everything. He could hate me and convince them im a horrible person!" I said worried. Ever just laughed, "oh ethan chill out. Ive never seen you this nervous. Itll be alright. Mira seems to really like you," she told me. I looked at her quizically and was about to speak when she continued, "i can see it in her face. Mira likes you alot. Whether or not you can see it doesnt matter," she told me. I huffed, "yeah like you and natsu," i mumbled. She giggled and slapped my arm, "thats different!". "Im going to go do some homework!" She saidbefore standing up and walking to her room. I sat there on the couch for a few minutes until i also got up and went to my room. When i got in my room i started my math homework. I was a few problems in when i got a text. I was expecting it to be jellal or mira but it was natsu.
Pinky:hey ethan
Me: whats up?
Pinky: i kinda have a question
Me: and whats that?
Pinky: ever has a swim match this saturday, right?
Me: yeah i think so. Against lamia scale
Pinky: ah thats right. Are you going?
Me: sure. Gotta root for my sis
Pinky: figured. Well afterwards me and gray were planning to take the girls to a dinner
Me: sounds nice
Pinky: i was hoping you could help
Me: how so?
Pinky: well for one dont let the girls know about our plan
Me: easy enough
Pinky: and tell everyone else to be ready for dinner after the match
Me: why do i need to?
Pinky: that way if you get caught me and gray can act like we have nothing to do with it
Me: oh. So im the scape goat, huh?
Pinky: a little bit. i guess. Sorry
Me: its okay, ill do it
Pinky: really?!:)
Me: sure
Pinky: awesome! Me and gray thankyou
Me: no problem
Pinky: im sorry about earlier
Me: dont sweat it. I know you wont hurt her
Me: im just worried
Pinky: im glad i have your trust. I swear i wont hurt her
Me: good you better not.
Pinky: thanks ethan. Youre alright
Me: ooh thanks. Just alright
Pinky: lol you know what i mean
Me: lol sure. Talk to ya later

I went back to doing my homework after i texted everyone. Everyone except for ever and juvia got a text saying to be ready for a dinner after the match. Everyone agreed, laxus even offered to pay if they win. But gray and natsu were already planning to pay for everyone. This weekend is going to be eventful.

Evers POV
When i got into my room i didnt even try to study. Instead i texted juvia
Me: hey juv- i cant stop thinking about today
She texted back a few minutes later.
Juvia: juv?? And neither can i
Me: lol i thought id try it out. I just- what do we do about this?
Juvia: i dont know! We cant let them know we heard!
Me: i know but also like......does natsu love me?!
Juvia: from the way he looks at you id say thats a yes
Me: well how are you feeling about gray?
Juvia: same as usual except now im expecting more
Me: how so?
Juvia: well until a couple of weeks ago i didnt even think he liked me back and now...this
Me: well i can tell he likes you. He just doesnt show it much
Juvia: yeah i guess so. I just wish he would admit it
Me: i guess well just have to wait
Juvia: but its so frustrating!
Me: i know but unless you want to give up on him....
Juvia: no! I would never give up on gray-sama
Me: i know you wouldnt. Im not giving up either
Juvia: figured
Me: whats that supposed to mean
Juvia: i know you love him!
Me: well i - i dont know if i would use the word love
Juvia: dont play all coy
Me: love is a strong word
Juvia: and you have strong feelings
Me: yes but...ah whatever
Juvia: thats the spirit!
Me: lol okay. I gotta do somehomework
Juvia: or you gotta do natsu;)

Me: actually i have a question for you
Juvia: okay ...?
Me: well ethan is going to meet the strauss' father on friday night and i was wonder if you and gray would like to come over for dinner. Im going to invite natsu and igneel as well.
Juvia: that sounds like fun! Ill ask gray sama. What time?
Me: um about 630 is fine i guess.
Juvia: well be there
Me: great. See you tmr
Juvia: see ya
I waited for a moment before texting natsu
Me: hey if youre able to would we be able to talk on the phone?
Natsu: sure give me a min
Me: yay
I waited for a few moments until my phone rang i looked at the id and saw that it was natsu. I quickly answered rhe phone, "hello?". Natsus voice came through the other line, "hey ever," i smiled to myself before asking, "would you and igneel like to come for dinner on friday?" He stayed silence for a moment answering, "hold on, let me ask my dad," i heard shuffling on the other end and faint voices, "dad! Ever invited us to dinner at her place on friday! No dad! Shutup! Thats different! Dont even bring that up!" Aftter a few moment of hearing natsu yell at his dad he came back on the line, "yeah we would love to," he said happily. I did my happy dance as i responded, "oh and happy can come too!" I told him. He chuckled, "happy doesnt need to come," he said. "He doesnt need to. But i want him to," i said. "Okay ill bring him if you want," he finally answered. "Great! I cant wait," i told him. "Im sure it will be fun," he said. "Well im sorry natsu but i have to do some homework now," i told him. "Okay ill let you go," he said. Before hanging up i spoke, "bye natsu. I miss you already," i said. I swear i could hear him smiling from the other end, "bye ever. I lo-" he stopped talking for a moment before composing himself, "i miss you too," he said before hanging up. 'Was he going to say he loves me?' I did my homework and listened to some music before going to bed. I listened to this new artist ive discovered recently. Her name is melanie martinez and she has really cool hair. Her style is a little...odd but still realistic. Her album crybaby is set up like a story where each song is a chapter. I fell asleep listening to crybaby.
