Chapter 40- thanksgiving

Evers POV
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock and turned it off groggily. I looked at the window and noticed that the sun was just starting to rise. Quickly i put on my slippers before heading to the kitchen. Once there i put on the kettle for some tea and then took the massive turkey out of the fridge. I had mostly prepared it last night so i only needed to put it in the oven. I preheated the oven to three hundred before putting the turkey in, it would need to cook for about five or six hours. The meat stuffing that i made was in the turkey already making it weigh more than its original thirty pounds. I took the peeled potatoes out of the fridge and set them on the stove to begin boiling. The stringbean casserole and sweet potatoes wouldnt take as long so i left them in the fridge. I checked the cranberry sauce that i had made to make sure it was getting the right consistency, which it was. By this time, the water in the kettle was boiling. I quickly made two cups of tea before walking upstairs. I held both cups of tea carefully as i knocked on ethans door. I waited a few minutes for him to wake up. When he finally did open the door i smiled, "happy thanksgiving," i said as i pushed past him into his room. I havent really been in here since we moved in so i noticed how it was alot more cluttered than before. I sat down on his bed and held out his cup, "so i have to help?" He asked me as he took his cup. I nodded, "yeah, i cooking everything so dont get your panties in a wad," i said sarcastically making ethan chuckle, "alright so what do i have to do?" He asked. "First of all i want you to set up the table. We will have thirteen guests in total," i explained. Ethan gasped, "whatt? Thirteen?" He asked making me nod. "Well we have us two, natsu and igneel, natsus older brother who is bringing his wife. The akabanes and their two daughters, and the strauss siblings makes thirteen," i told him. He noded, "and you havent met natsus brother yet?" He asked me. I shook my head, "no which is why i want to make a great impression. I want you to clean the first floor, set up the table and pick out a great bottle of wine," i told him. He noded, "okay just let me shower first," he said as i stood up. "Okay, also, please text natsu and mira, see when everyone will be here," i told him as i left. It was around three oclock when we had everything set up, i just needed to shower. "Okay well natsu and mira wont be here for an hour," ethan told me, "so go shower," he finished. "Okay, ill be real quick," i said as i ran up the steps. I ran into my room and got my clothes read when i noticed my phone light up. I looked over and noticed that it was from an unknown number.
Unknown: hello, is this ever?
Me: yeah im ever, whos this?
Unknown: oh my name is zeref, im natsus older brother. I hope you dont mind that my wife gave me your number?
'Holy shit! Natsus brother is texting me!' I was only in my undershirt and underwear but i ran downstairs to show ethan. As i ran down the steps ethans eyes widened, "wha- whats wrong-" he began to ask but i showed him my phone. He looked at it for a moment before asking, "so?" He asked. I waved my hand sporatically, "what do i even say?!" I almost yelled. Ethan chuckled, "chill out ever, just talk to him how you would talk to anyone else," he said. I thought for a moment before nodding, 'yeah, i shouldnt be nervous'. I began texting again.
Me:oh no, i dont mind, i just didnt recognize youre number. Im excited to meet you later!
Zeref:well thats actually what i would like to speak with you about....
Me: oh, is everything alright?
Zeref: yes everything is fine just...my wife would like to meet you before natsu is there, do you mind? We could drive over right now.
'Oh shit! What do i do? I dont want to be rude! But i have to shower!'
Me: thats fine with me, my brother ethan will be here to let you in
Zeref: thats fantastic! Well ever, we will be there in anout thirty minutes.
Quickly i ran downstairs and told ethan what was going on before getting the quickest shower ever. I was only in the shower for about fifteen minutes when i heard the front door open. As fast as i could i ran into my room and got into my clothes. I picked out a white undershirt, brown sweater and redish jeans to wear. After i got dressed i blowdryed my hair before pulling it into a high ponytail. The only makeup i wore was brown eyeliner. Finally i put on my brown boots and headed downstairs. When i reached the bottom of the steps i could ethan talking to someone, "yes, my father was an excellent man," he said. I could tell he was talking to someone he had just met because of the way he was speaking so politely. When i walked into the kitchen ethan and the two other people turned towards me. "Sorry if i took long," i said as i approached them. "Well you must be ever, it really is a pleasure to meet you," the man who i assume is zeref stood up. He was a little taller than natsu with black hair and softer features, he was actually quite cute. "Im ever, you must be zeref," i said as he shook my hand. He nodded as he shook my hand, "yes and this is my lovely wife, mavis," he gestured towards the young girl sitting next to ethan. "Oh, youre mavis? Its very nice to meet you," i said as i approached her. Ethan gave me a look of, 'i dont understand either'. Mavis had very long blong hair that almost reached the floor and she wore a headband with wings on the side. But what was most strange about her was that she honestly looked like very young, she looked about wendys age. "Its very nice to meet you ever, ive heard so much," mavis said as she shook my hand. "Would you like tea? Wine?" I asked them, trying to be a good host. "Tea would be lovely!" Mavis said happily. "No thank you," zeref told me. I went into the kitchen and quickly made a cup of tea. As i walked into the diningroom with the cup of tea mavis spoke, "okay so i would like to address the elaphant in the room-" she said making me and ethan internally smile. "You must have noticed that i look very young," she said as i handed her the cup of tea, i nodded as i sat down in between her and zeref. "Well i am actually 28 years old. I have a rare case of horomone deficiency. Basically, i havent grown since my freshman year in highschool," she explained before taking a sip of the tea. "I see..." ethan said. "Well i think that just makes you all the more unique," i said trying to make light of the subject. "Indeed, its actually quiet funny when people think i am a child instead of the dean of two major schools," she said. "Oh right, arent you the founder of fairytail?" I asked her and she nodded. "Yes, i wanted to open a school where people can come together and share their passion, no matter what it may be. I am proud to see the families it has brought together. Which is why i opened fairytail university two years after," she explained. "Wow, you sound so accomplished," i said. "Well actually mavis is very driven, so driven in fact that my boss believes she is the best scientist for our next job," zeref told me. "Oh so you two are scientists?" I asked. "Well i have a doctorate in micro biology but mavis here is much more achieved," zeref said making mavis blush. "Oh honey dont be so flattering," she said making me giggle. "Not only has she opened two of the most successful schools but she has a doctorates in psychology and a masters in biology with a minor in oceanography," zeref said making me and ethan gasp. "Wow, you must be a genuis," ethan said making mavis giggle, "not really, i just like to learn," she said. "Well thats a great quality to have," i told her. "So ever, id like to know more about you and your family," zeref said. I cleared my throat before speaking up, "well uh- my parents are....no longer with us, so my only family at the moment is really just ethan," i told them. "Yes, im sorry to hear that," mavis said sadly. "But- its fine, ethan is a great brother. Plus i have alot of friends from school," i told them. "Well thats good, friends are important," mavis said while zeref nodded. "Wel, youre a fery attractive girl, i can see why natsu has interest in you. How about your interests? Any hobbies?" Zeref asked. I nodded, "well i am on the swim team, mostly for fun. Um- me and natsu joined photography together and that is pretty fun. I also really like to read and bake," i told them. "You sound so full of life, what do you take photos of?" Mavis asked me. "Um well- i like to take pictures of nature the most, but i also like taking pictures of my friends to capture the moment," i explained. "What about you ethan?" Zeref asked making ethan looked up. "Oh well- i dont do much, im in the boxing club with natsu, i am also on the student council," he said. "Ah- so youre the diplomatic type?" Zeref asked making me giggle. Ethan scowled at me, making me explain myself, "no its just that- youre really not diplomatic. In fact, before this year i could see you joining any clubs," i said making ethan nod in agreement. "I see, youre more of the rebel," mavis said with a chuckle. "Im sorry guys, ill be right back, just have to check the turkey," i said as i stood up. I walked into the kitchen as they kept talking and checked the turkey. The browing was coming along nicely. It would only need a few more minutes of rest to keep cooking. I took it out of the oven and set it on the counter to rest before getting out the cutting board and serving platters. Just then ethan called into the kitchen, "ever, natsu and mira will be here soon," he said. I heard mavis ask, "oh, is mira your girlfriend?"
