Ready for me to introduce a character? Haha, of course you aren't! Anyway, I decided to flesh out an oc you guys probably know as Galaxy Gazer. What did I do to her? Everything!

Anyway, I'll start by explaining the species to which she belongs. They are an alien race called zex (singular zek) from beyond the outer reaches of our solar system. They still exist in the Milky Way, but not our particular "neighbourhood". You know what I mean, right? I give up. Anyway, the zex are a technologically-advanced species who have set out to explore the universe. Zex are humanoids with long legs and arms. They usually stand about seven feet. They don't have noses, but instead blowhole-type things on the top of their heads. The reason for this is that they were originally aquatic mammals, like whales. The sense of smell that the zex possess isn't exactly strongest for hopefully obvious reasons. Zex are a temperature-sensitive species, and fare better in more humid environments. When travelling, they need to wear special suits. Their heads are typically a bit larger than humans. They have a larger mental capacity than the average homo sapien. Due to this, they've developed means of space travel, entertainment, and even proved the multiverse theory. (This doesn't make them sound like an assholish Mary Sue species, does it?)

The zek government (lead by a monarch) have launched ships into space to explore the universe and hopefully find new territory to take over Risk-style. On this crusade, they also reach to invent new technologies to make this easier. One such technology is the Space Hopping Interdimensional Traveller, better known by its acronym. It is a small device that is much like a remote. It has a button and two dials that toggle settings. Anyway, this device can be used to open artificial wormholes that can be stepped into to explore new dimensions. The science behind this was derived from natural wormholes found in the universe. The wormholes found by the zex explorers were able to act as transport tunnels to alternate dimensions. Wormholes are made of mixings of certain elements and dark matter. However, they are volatile and extremely unstable. Plus, they cannot be reopened. The S.H.I.T. is able to create wormholes out of elements found around it. These are more stable and can be reopened, but there's a catch.

The wormholes are weaker than normal, and cannot contain the full mass of a living creature. Thus, in the tunnel-like interior of a wormhole, the traveller must become the alternate version of themselves found in that dimension. However, the traveller will always retain some part of their former self that can be easily transported. For example, in a universe where they are a dog, when they go somewhere new they might keep the tail or ears. Instead of having to entirely reform the body suited to the new dimension, some parts are retained to prevent overworking the wormhole or device. This makes inconspicuous travel a lot harder. Only after extensive training is a zek ready to travel.

This brings us to Galaxy Gazer. As a zek, (her native species) she is known as Neb. (Most zek names are short, and are all unisex.) Neb is a worker for the government, in the cosmic travel unit. Positions in this unit include scientists working to develop new exploration means, mappers putting new spots on maps and making notes about their characteristics, and the ever-important field researcher. As you probably guessed, they're the travellers. Neb is one of these.

Neb started off as a mapper, as most newbies in the department do. She was enthralled by the idea of interdimensional travel. After learning about the training program, she decided to take it. At first, Neb was sort of unprepared for the job. She didn't know it would be so hard. During her training, Neb hit a few walls. She considered giving up for a while. However, she worked as hard as she could and ultimately succeeded in her job. Nowadays, she's a traveller who maps her sightings as best as possible. Neb takes pride in her detailed descriptions of the dimensions she travels.

Neb has a type A personality, more or less. She is highly motivated to succeed. However, it can make her stubborn and a bit short-tempered. She likes to be a leader, even if she's not the best at it all the time. Other times, Neb can give good advice. She's honest, and she will tell you if she thinks something needs to be changed. Neb is very dedicated and loyal to her friends. She can be quite curious about things and will often consult friends about them.

Neb's main talents are writing and navigation. These are very useful to her job. Neb is a fast runner, but gets winded easily. She performs best in short bursts. Neb is average in most other activities. She enjoys exploring, but can be a bit fearful of species that she thinks are more powerful than her. Otherwise, she loves writing about what she sees and observing new worlds around her.
