zombiepeasant and I had a child, and by child I mean battle robot.

At school, there's a class called MakerSpace that's pretty much basic engineering and some sewing. There's even a 3D printer. You can choose a project for the week and work on it. Zombie and I decided on battle bots.

Basically, you have different magnetic cubes with different functions. Some spin, some have wheels, some provide power, stuff like that. You pretty much mess around with them. There are even Lego bits that you can build little swords and stuff off of. Zombie and I experimented the whole class before eventually building the ultimate robot. We used all of the available cubes and built one big one, complete with a cape and saboteur-resistant design.

I named him Jeffrey.

He's a battle bot. Next class, we're going to refine the design and give him weapons. The best parts of his design are his sirens (they chirp to intimidate and confuse the enemy) and automatic locomotion system. On his back, there are sensors that make him move when there's something in front of him. Knowing this, we made Jeffrey a cape. It goes between two blocks above the sensors and make him go automatically. Plus, if you tried to thwart this, you would fail. He has two tiny spinning Lego arms that propel his cape back down if it's thrown over his head.

Those are the basics on our robot child. As for why he was named Jeffrey, it was a matter of pride. I was challenged by somebody on what we were building, and instead of simply stating that he was a robot, I named him on the spot. Jeffrey was simply the first thing to come to mind.
