"Would you please just die already?" I groaned, trying to kill this Krey. He knocked me on the ground, prepared to kill me.

The six of us, (including Sydney, even though she isn't an asset in fighting or anything really. Except for leading us to a total stranger.) were trying to track the first wizard down. Sydney had been nagging us for five days, complaining about how slow and unenthusiastic we were. I went to sleep with headaches every night. Everyone else had the same feeling. Serena made it clear when she raged at Sydney. Some hardly suitable terms were used and now there was a tight tension in the air between them.

I rolled left, into a puddle of mud, just as the Krey's fist smashed into the spot I had been. I took out a long dagger on me. It was my favorite knife and it had a radiant red rose on the hilt. I always kept it on me in case I got caught in a close-range battle.

I stabbed him in the arm and yanked it out before his arm got too far for me to retrieve it. The Krey hissed in pain and disgust. I got up from my spot, wiping the dirt off of me.

"You're paying for that you brat." He threatened.

I scoffed. "Yeah right like you co-" I got interrupted when he used his unnatural speed and shoved me into a tree, 4 meters away.

Pain erupted all over my back. Blood and saliva were building up in my mouth. "Curse you," I said, when he came over, which was pretty hard with all the liquids trying to come out. "Curse you and your abnormal powers." He got close enough for me to spit on his face. He wiped the blood off and licked his hand.

"Come on! Did you have to do that right in front of me?!" I complained and completely grossed out. Seiro had made this delicious pasta for lunch and now it was about to spill all over the place. The Krey arrogantly smirked.

"What does it matter to you girl? You're about to die." However, before his icy hands could snap my neck, his head was violently sliced off. His blood splashed on me as the dead body collapsed.

"Thanks..." I muttered, trying to wipe all the grime off of me. My savior didn't respond and instead, she walked away, removing the blood with a leaf. Then her sword transformed back into a hairpin, where she stuck it back into her bun. I chased after Emily, doing the same with another damp leaf from a tree near me. I hated blood, especially on my weapons. As I cleaned my dagger, I looked up at the gloomy sky above us. It was a cloudy day from the recent rainstorm. Perfect for the Krey. Awful for my usual happy mood.

We got back to camp where Ellia was waiting to greet us. "Hey Emma, Emily. How was scouting?"

"Alright. We ran into a couple of Krey but it should be clear now. After breakfast tomorrow, let's get moving and set up camp somewhere else."

Ellia nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that's a good idea. Since Seiro and Serena aren't here yet, I took the liberty of making supper!"

"Oh dear lord..." I murmured. Seiro was the best chef out of all of us. Serena could cook a couple of meals, and Emily had gotten second best in baking class, but it was nothing compared to the rich and vintage food Seiro can whip up. I had no interest in learning culinary skills and I'm sure Ellia felt the same way.

I peeked into the large pot of soup while Emily went into one of the tents.

We had two waterproof, heated or air-conditioned for the different environments we will be traveling in, and large spacey tents. Ellia brought them along and claimed that they were just lying around at home. Since Seiro was the only guy with us, Ellia, Serena, and Emily wasn't comfortable sharing a tent with him. That meant I had to be the brave one.
