I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping. I blinked and yawned. A quick glance at my clock told me it was 8 am. It felt like a normal day, but my life would never be the same ever again. I thought over what had happened over the last couple of weeks. Finding all the Wizards, traveling to the Rainforest, Arctic, Mountain, and Desert clouds, fixing the MA, learning the truth about everything, and so much more. A goofy smile came to my face as I got ready for the day.
I made my way to the Dining Hall with my hair carefully pinned up and a light dress. I haven't been able to wear a dress so casually. It was horrible to wear during a fight. I could hear the chatter coming from inside the hall. I opened the door and walked in.
It was a lively atmosphere. Everyone was talking and eating to each other. I sat down next to Ellia and Hudson, who was chatting with the people around them. A butler came by and placed a plate of pancakes, sausage links, eggs, and strawberries. I dug in as gracefully as possible. I chewed on a strawberry while I scanned the room. Ellia's family had left last night, preferring to stay in their own home instead. Besides them, everyone else was here except for Natalie.
Dylan was across from me, drinking his orange juice. I kicked his leg, accidentally causing him to spill some of his drink on him.
"What the hell Emma?!" He exclaimed, grabbing his napkin and dabbing his shirt. "This is made out of silk!"
"Sorry," I said, feeling slightly guilty. "I just wanted to know where Natalie was."
He glared at me. "It doesn't mean you need to kick me in the shin! There are other ways to get my attention."
"Ok, ok, I get it. Don't kick hungry Wizards."
He nodded. "Damn right and I haven't seen Natalie. I guess she's still sleeping."
"Yeah, she is," interrupted Hudson. "She's pretty tired from last night."
"Oh, we could send her breakfast up to her room. I'm sure she'll appreciate i-"
"No," Hudson cut in, looking a bit worried. "We should let her get some rest. You don't need to wake her up."
I gave him a funny look. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am." He responded firmly. An awkward silence fell between us.
"You were supposed to meet me in my room last night," I said, poking around my food. I hate tense situations.
He smacked his head harder than I expected him to. "Oh yeah, I completely forgot. Do you want to chat afterward?"
"Alright, but we can talk in one of the parlors instead."
He shook his head. "Nah, let's just stick with our original plans."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course and what did you want to talk to me about anyway? Why does it have to be private?"
Because I don't want to break up with you in front of everyone.
I bit my lip. "I'll tell you later."
He agreed and shoveled food into his mouth like a guy. I rolled my eyes and carefully cut my pancakes. He winked at me and refocused back to his plate. Maybe we could still be friends after all this. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Rodas glaring at Hudson. He was obviously jealous. Maybe reaching that friend-zone was harder than I thought.
Hudson and I were walking down the hall. He wouldn't stop asking about what happened. "No way, you blew up Fort Kekemakawae?"
"Also HiTinky," I added.
