Intense chills erupted from my cheek, causing a normal person to shiver. But I wasn't normal. I froze and went rigid. Images of my past floated across my vision, creating me to realize on shocking discovery: I wasn't going to be Emma Fairthorn anymore. I was going to spend the rest of my life as a Krey.
As soon as the chills came, they vanished. Only to be replaced with an emotion far more worse. I let out a guttural scream as waves of agony exploded inside of me. I was vaguely aware that around me, the Krey had stopped laughing and wasn't looking at me anymore. Their eyes were turned to their colleague who was letting out cries of pain like I was. The Krey frantically slapped his lips as if they were on fire. Coincidentally, he was the some Krey who had the decency to kiss my cheek.
A sudden burst of heat burst on my cheek, making the edges of my vision turn red. But I was soon spared as the rollercoaster of pain stopped and slowly faded away. My chest began to fall up and down at a steady pace but soon quickened as the same Krey beside me started howling and screeching again.
The other remaining Krey backed up a few feet, terrified and wary. I stayed where I was at as my mouth dropped to watch the writhing Krey go still, and turn into ashes. There was a pregnant silence as the Krey and I stared at the ashes, unsure of what to say.
"W-what the hell did you do, bitch?!" A Krey stuttered, his bony finger pointing at my face. They stayed far back, worried their fate might turn out like their fallen comrade. I had no words and I continued gaping at the burnt pieces in front of me.
"Kill her!" shouted another Krey, but no one made the effort to advance forward. His words shook me out of my haze and I snapped my mouth shut. The other Krey finally got over their fears of dying and flew towards me. Or at least they tried to.
The original Krey who started shouting fell to his knees, his head falling off of his head. As the head tumbled off of his body, I craned my head to see who killed him. But I only saw a sword, floating mid-air.
The other Krey stopped in their tracks and began gawking at the weapon casually floating above the dead body. The blade turned and faced the remaining three Krey. In a flash, the blade flew towards the nearest Krey nearby, burying itself into her heart. It quickly pulled itself out and moved directly on top of the Krey who was slowly moving back. The man peered around the tunnel searching for the twin blade.
He glared at me but I could see the fright in his eyes. I smirked and pointed up. He followed the direction of my finger and watched as the blade plunged right into the middle of his skull. The last Krey ran out of the tunnel, knowing if she stayed any longer, she would experience the same fate as her friends. The blade followed her inconspicuously, waiting for a perfect time to strike her down.
When she neared the end of the tunnel, the twin blade decided to pay her a visit. It slashed at her legs, earning a soundless shout from the female Krey. Her cries of pain died off as the twin blade buried himself into her heart. It flew out and stared at me before returning to its master. I sighed and stared at the wall in front of me. "Thanks, Seiro..." I whispered.
The young ShadowWolf stepped out from behind the rocky entrance bowing as he approached me. "You're welcome Master Emma,"
My breathing became more and more irregular as he stepped closer to me. "Wait!" I called out, making him abruptly stop. His head tilted in confusion and behind his mask, I could see his eyes ask a silent question.
"Did you hear anything by any chance?" I asked, acting like nothing out of the ordinary happened. Seiro shook his head.
"No, I only heard a faint echo when I was escaping. I found Mr.Byron just outside of here fighting his own battle. Emily and Miss.Byron escorted him out. It seems that he had a busted lip and a mild concussion."
