Someone screamed. The Krey looked up from his prey and smiled, his eyes somehow finding mine. I flinched but didn't avert my gaze. His eyes darkened in amusement and spoke. "Attack,"

It was funny how one word could turn everything into chaos. The Krey stormed the ballroom, sinking their icy hands into the flesh of the closest Airians near them. More screaming echoed off the marble walls. Everyone was running for their lives, trying to get out of here. Heads started falling to the ground and the number of Airians started to decrease. The few guards in the room tried to hold off the Krey but they were hopelessly outnumbered.

A few flashes of light came from the back of the room. Ellia and Emily had their jewelry with them which could transform into any weapon. People like Serena and I couldn't waltz with a sword strapped to our back. Most of the people in here were like us. Even though there were twice the amount of Airians than Krey, we were weaponless and clearly at a disadvantage.

A few Krey broke through the crowd of people and made it to us. Two went towards my family. Father pulled out a sword from his robes that I didn't know he had. He pushed Mother and the twins back behind him. I didn't see what happened next because one made its way to Hudson and me.

The Krey tilted his head questionably at us, debating which to go after for. After a few more seconds, he ran at Hudson. He pinned him against the wall, almost knocking him out. I was about to help him when I felt a weight on my head lift. I blinked a few times like someone smacked me on the head. It felt like I had just woken up from a deep sleep. I was slightly disoriented and it took me a while to take in my surroundings. Suddenly, memories of the day ran through my brain, reminding me of the eventful morning.

Natalie controlling me, breaking up with Rodas, Hudson mind-controlling me, my conversation with my mom. All of these things came flooding back into my brain and now I could react to them properly. I didn't realize I was zoning out until Hudson called me.

"Emma, help me." He croaked as the Krey choked him. His face was bloody and blue from the loss of air. Instead of hurt, I felt anger. I was furious that he manipulated me like a voodoo doll, I was furious that he ordered Natalie to make me break up with Rodas, I was furious that he threatened to kill all my friends and family if I didn't cooperate. If that Krey wasn't about to kill him, I think I would've done it myself.

He saw the change of emotions in my eyes. "Emma, come and help me." He wheezed, trying to use his dirty tricks again.

I felt my thoughts cloud but I clenched my fists. I wouldn't fall for it again. My fingernails dug into my hands, drawing blood. My hands stung but it helped me focus and shield myself from him.

"That won't work on me," I hissed.

The Krey that was choking Hudson looked rather amused. "So, you're that princess bitch, huh?"

I gritted my teeth. "So what if I was?"

He shrugged and released Hudson who slumped to the floor, taking in huge breaths. "Then I would kill you first, not him. After all, you are the princess."

I could feel his gaze on my tiara. I didn't hesitate. I bolted. I ran down the small steps of the podium and ran to the nearest doors. I elbowed my way through the swarm of people and took a peek behind me. He wasn't wasting his time with killing other people. He was shoving everyone around him, trying to get his way towards me. Most people instantly moved out of his way, sensing he was a Krey. He was catching up, only a couple of meters away from me.

I was so engrossed in what was behind me, I nearly tripped over a body. I stumbled but kept my balance. The Krey was catching up but I didn't move. I stared at the dead body below me. It was an officer and he was long gone. His neck was bent at a strange position and his face was one of sheer terror. But that wasn't what caught my eye. It was his name tag that I couldn't tear my eyes away from.
