A pink haired girl ran out of the palace, jumping and screaming with excitement. She stopped for a minute and looked back, patiently waiting for someone else to come out. A boy with light hair flew towards her, lacking the energy she had. Instead, he kept an eye out for any signs of danger. He held twin blades and gripped them tightly despite the guards behind him. When he finally reached her, the girl grabbed his hand and tugged him out further on the cloud. She didn't go too far though, knowing that the guards on duty would scold her.

She took out the bag of bird feed she kept in her knapsack. She motioned the boy to lower his weapons. He hesitantly did, giving onc last check of his surroundings. She poured a small pile into his hands and did the same for her. She told the boy to hold out his hands and wait.

The birds chirping above them came flying down, landing in the little girl's hands. She giggled as their tiny feet moved around her hands, trying to eat. A few birds landed on her head and shoulders, their feathers tickling her.

The boy beside her stared in amazement. No birds landed near him. Maybe it was the mask or the stiffness in his posture but not even one bird would dare to go near him. The little girl frowned at the birds and nudged them towards the boy.

None of them followed her movements. One even buried itself in her thick hair. The girl made a quick decision in her mind. She moved towards the boy with her flock of birds. Sensing his shy aura, the birds flew off of the girl as she inched closer and closer. All except for one.

It was still pecking at the remaining nuts in her hand. Once there was no more, the bird looked curiously at the boy's hand which was full of food. It hopped over from the girl's hand to the boy's and began eating. The girl smiled as the boy's body softened. He was staring at the bird with fascination. He had a rare face on that the girl only saw a few times in her life. It was caring and full of adoration. His expression didn't even change at all when the bird started peeing in his hands.

The girl's eyes widened, waiting for the boy to shake the bird off. To her complete surprise, the boy didn't show any emotion of that. He petted the bird who shivered at his cold touch. It suddenly flew away towards the people in front of the kids. The girl froze while the boy dropped over the leftover bird feed and grabbed his weapons.

The guards behind them tensed but relaxed when they recognized their fellow co-workers. They were holding the arms of a girl with raven hair and a petite body. Her eyes were dark and mysterious just like the white-haired boy. Her hair was full of leaves but the girl could still looked cute. The guards walked past the two kids with a simple nod to them. The strange girl arched an eyebrow she saw them, looking strangely confused.

They disappeared into the palace, leaving the two kids and their fleet of guards outside. The boy was still staring at the girl when she was ushered inside, even when she was gone. The pink haired girl smiled and elbowed him. She asked him if he thought the bizarre girl was pretty.

Even though he had a mask on, the girl knew the expression he made whenever he blushed. He picked up the bag and poured some more bird feed into his hands. The girl didn't push him, knowing he wouldn't like it. She accepted the bag when he handed to her and nearly jumped when he responded. Avoiding eye contact with her, he said one word.

"Maybe."

My whole body trembled all the way to my toes. Tears blurred my vision as I reached out and stroked his silky hair. I couldn't help but silently cry, remembering the fun and best moments we had together.
