"Princess Emma, we have something you need to look at."

I didn't look up from my work. I was almost done calculating the budget cuts. "Did my father send it?"

"Yes, he said it should be your first priority."

I wrote down the final number before glancing at the butler. "Alright. Leave it on my desk please."

He flew over and set the file on the side as I stacked my papers together. I gave him the documents in my hands.

"Can you give my father this? I think he would be happy to see them." I asked.

"Of course."

He bowed and left the room before saying one more thing. "I am sorry for your loss, Miss." At that he flew out, leaving me confused and curious of what was in the file.

I leaned forward and gently rested the thick folder in front of me. On the front, it had the words: Jeremy and Eleanor Celestia. I opened up the folder to see everything about them.

Birth Certificates, Diplomas from Academies, Marriage License, and many more documents I didn't bother to look through. There were also many pictures of them from their childhood. I giggled at the ones with Uncle Jeremy smiling wide, showing off his braces. Or Auntie Eleanor in big poofy gowns that seemed centuries old.

As I flipped through more images, I soon got to one with Uncle Jeremy and Auntie Eleanor in the hospital. Auntie Eleanor looked exhausted and sweaty but was still grinning as she held a baby girl in her arms. Uncle Jeremy was beside her, adoring his beautiful wife and daughter. The little baby girl had light brown hair, just like her mother.

There weren't many photos left after that. As I neared the end of the folder, I felt two new documents, still hot from the printer.

I took them out and couldn't believe what I just saw. They were death certificates. I scanned through the paper to discover that the couple died yesterday.

They were traveling outside of Air for a business trip, which was rare. We usually don't associate with people beyond our borders. Jeremy and Eleanor were scientists. They left to find more clues of some of the greatest mysteries in our world.

Why do humans only see white fluffy clouds and not landmarks and vegetation like we do?

Why are Krey terrified of Humans?

Another man named Nick Marz joined them on their trip, however, he was the only one to return. He claimed that they were ambushed by Krey. During the battle, the couple was cornered to the edge of a cliff and the Krey pushed them down, grappling with them as they fell. Nick barely got out of there alive and came back to Air to deliver the sad news.

I leaned back on my chair, not believing what I'd just read. The information hit me hard, like a blow to my heart. As I looked down at the file again, I caught sight of Serena's grinning face, showing the empty gap between her teeth when she was nine.

Serena...... How was she dealing with this? Grief was no friend to anyone, and letting it take control of your life was almost a death sentence.

She was still a minor, but she will be attending Air Mackenzie Academy soon. At least, if she didn't change her plans. I haven't seen or heard from her in about four years, but we promised each other, including Ellia, that we will meet again at Air Mackenzie Academy.

Needing some air, I stepped towards my balcony of my office that I got when I was twelve and sat down on my pink loveseat. I chose this specifically because it had a spectacular view of the sun setting. However, even the vibrant colors couldn't take my mind off of things.
