BONDS OF DESTINY
- I -"Shut up!" I groaned out loud my thumb and forefinger squeezing the top of my nose, my eyes tightly shut trying to get the images and sounds that jumbled up in my mind to disappear.
"Skye Anderson!" Ms. Laurel called out. I did not need to open my eyes to know she had turned in my direction, her gaze taking me in sternly.
"Do you have anything to submit to this class which is of more importance than mine?"
I opened my eyes slightly, her ugly mud brown eyes looking at me with judgement.
"No, my words would be just as irrelevant as yours" I said quickly, my class mates snickering at my reply.
I was a senior at Hill High with only 4 months more to go. This whole school thing was sucking the life out of me. There was nothing in here to learn that I couldn't out there in the real world. Right now instead of getting bed sores on my ass from sitting too long on the most uncomfortable chairs in the entire world, I could be out there cliff diving from Tree Hill Crest or jam out to DNCE's new album while driving on the High Road. Scratch that, nothing would stop me from listening to music if I felt like it, not even school and 'Mrs Prude' who was now full on glaring at me with her hands on her hips. I swear to you that woman had it in for me. Had ever since I stepped foot in this place, and after years of trying to get on her good side I finally gave up.
"Ms Anderson..."
"Yeah, Yeah" I waved my hand and shrugged collecting my stuff, as I knew she was giving me detention. Hey, it was only the 2nd one this week and it was already Thursday. I was on a roll. Or maybe it was because I skipped classes Tuesday and Wednesday.
I closed the door after me slowly making my way down the hallway. I knew I should walk straight towards detention but no one could blame a girl for hitting the bathroom beforehand.
I walked straight up to one of the sinks, my back pack falling down on the floor beside my right foot and I rested my hands on the sink while watching my reflection.
Dark blue eyes stared back at me, a few loose strands of black hair in my face. I smoothed them backwards before splashing water in my face. It did not do much to my appearance. The black circles under my eyes were still fairly visible ratting out my lack of sleep. My high cheekbones without a drop of tainted pink. My cheeks really were as pale as the rest of my face. My otherwise full lips were strained with irritation, my bottom lip clenched between my teeth.
'Yes, you look terrible' a familiar voice sounded in my mind.
Shut up!, I demanded but my other half merely scoffed. The downsides of having your mind shared was that you couldn't get rid of the annoying all-knowing voice no matter how much you pleaded and begged.
'It's important memories!' She intervened and I closed my eyes as I noticed her peek forward as my eyes dulled into black.
Yes, I was a wolf. No, you could not call me a werewolf because if you did I would tear you to pieces. I didn't howl at the moon or go on nightly strays just to scare off innocent people or made them another toy trying to tame my boredom. And no, I would not bite you and condemn you to a life of excruciating pain every full moon.
