BONDS OF DESTINY
- XXI -

"What do you mean it belonged to one of them?" I said for the third time as I still could not wrap my head around it. Getting to my feet I turned around to watch the scenery instead.

This place had been another pack's.

"We came across it when we were—" Argent trailed himself off and I felt him get to his feet too unsure of how to put it. Not that he did have to say it because I already knew he was referring to them hunting the supposed Alpha which were turning humans into werewolves for his amusement.

I felt Argent's arms wrap around my waist before I felt his chin settle onto my shoulder.

"It's linked," I breathed out as it was the only logical explanation. If Argent and his pack really had come across 3 packs who had all been destroyed like this while hunting the Alpha, how could it not be and even more so: What did it mean to me?

"Skye, the turned humans weren't behind that. They could not have been, they are not in their right state of mind. They kill by instinct and what happened to the packs—"

"Was intentional," I ended his sentence and I felt him stiffen.

"Argent..." I shook off his hold of me and I turned so I could look at him, his eyes instantly locking onto mine and I felt myself swallow deeply preparing myself.

"You know how I said I had a feeling that what happened to those—" I gestured to the territory around me briefly breaking our eye contact.

"Would happen to my own,"

"Skye—"

"No Argent, you wanted to know everything and here I am trying to tell you." I placed my hands on his chest.

"I had a dream. A dream in which Nyx came to me."

"Nyx?" his brows furrowed as confusion filled his features however his eyes never left mine.

"The Goddess of Night," I answered before a gave him a begging look for him not to interrupt me.

"She... She warned me of incoming danger. She said I had to be prepared. That I had to change it." I took a step back and began pacing as I could not stand still. It was like my mind was a mess with different ways to explain however none of them seemed good enough.

"Then after that I started getting these flashes, memories of you and me. The ones you started having the minute you first saw me, however I had been seeing them for months. But it was not just like it has been all the other times. I saw more. Way more than I usually did and still I'm not seeing enough. Our first life, Lucas. It's still in fragments and I get these pictures in my head and voices..." Again the image of red eyes flashed and I froze unable to breathe.

"You are nothing weakling. No one can ever measure up to me." Red eyes mockingly smiled at me, a smile which bared the man's yellow teeth, the stench of death lingering to him.
